Double Strike and damage effects

Asked by qunqiyah 9 years ago

If a card states: when this creature does combat damage "X" happensIf I give this creature double strike does the combat trigger happen twice?

if X is their power, than it is double, if X is some after effect, like say Flameblast Dragon, then no that isn't combat dmg so it isnt doubled.

But no I don't believe it does. It is just like something having first strike.

yes... your creature will deal damage during the first strike damage step, and during the regular combat damage step. During first strike damage your creature will deal damage and the ability will trigger and go on the stack. When the stack resolves you will do whatever the ability says and then you'll go to regular combat damage and your creature will deal damage again and then the ability will trigger a second time.

Epoch will probably move this to the blind eternities, cause it should be in Q&A but he can't move it there from here. Just for future reference:)

See Warren Instigator for a good example of this.
