Captain Mother Funk Loving Kirk

I'm a Star Trek fan. I blame my dad. I've met Bill Shatner, James Doohan, and Armin Shimmerman at conventions. With Spock ears on. FTW.

Anywho, we've seen Kirk and Picard duke it out. Who is the best Captain and why? Janeway? Kirk? Picard? Sisco?

Btw, I'm watching the original Star Trek on Netflix. I'm on episode 4 of season 1.

i love the part where Kirk was all like pew pew with his gun and Spock was like live long and prosper

But seriously, I have no experience with the series and have only seen the movies because I have no motivation; I love the gifs/memes the internet produces of Picard, so I'll give him a point.

Janeway "smoker's voice" is too prominent

Kirk wears a girdle

Sisco is bland in my books

Picard wins

Picard FTW!

Pretty sure Jean-Luc is about as sophisticated as badass gets.

Picard is the best because he just is.

Can't argue with that.

I heard the enterprise under his command could stand a chance at not being annihilated by Storm Crow .

I don't think I've ever seen anyone take Kirk over Picard in this debate.

I'd say he's as badass as sophisticated gets. Picard takes it

The 'new' Kirk as portrayed by Christopher Pine is a badass. His bravado, cockiness (also confidence), and willingness to take risks are qualities I like.

Picard is more of a 'democratic' leader. He's definitely capable of making snap decisions, but likes to be informed, taking input from his capable crew.

I like both, but have to go with Kirk.

They all have their ups and downs, but I have to stick with the original Kirk. Picard is great, but Kirk, to me, just has more charm, charisma, and balls. Sure, Shatner devolved into a self-parody as time has gone on, and his 80s-90s wig was unfortunate, but I loved his adventurous rogue-like nature. I always liked that he was willing to win through a sucker punch (Well, karate chop) or cheating if he needed to. And sure, sometimes some of the writing on the show might've been a little iffy (which might not've mixed well with Shatner's mugging for the camera), but when doesn't that happen on a Star Trek series?

I might feel more comfortable having Picard as my captain, but I'd rather have Kirk by my side in the thick of things.

Just the character? Kirk. Dude's got balls. But taking into account the actors? Shatner.. Didn't do exceptionally well at portraying kirk, however, Stewart IS picard. I can see shatner is some other show and not immediately connect him being kirk, but stewart is instantly "The guy that plays picard" whenever I see him.
