Maybeboard

My current Yuriko list. Mostly cobbled together from whatever singles I can afford that I've seen run in actually competitive lists.

Thoughts: need to play the deck more and get better at figuring out winning lines; just tutoring the highest cmc card to the top of my library isn't always the correct play. (in one case, one opponent was on 7 life and I decided use Scheming Symmetry to tutor for Rags / Riches, took him out and then lost on the following turn. I should've tutored for Behold the Beyond instead, and then cast that on the next turn and taken out the rest of the table)

Ideal power level: 8~9. Would like it to be reasonably powerful (although it'll always have a ceiling due to budget constraints & I'm not experienced enough with EDH/Magic to know what that ceiling is currently) but still be fun to play against. I suspect the number of (topdeck) tutors would massively impact that.

Goal/wincon: dealing burn damage to the table through Yuriko flips. currently when goldfishing, the deck consistently wins on turn 6, either through being able to manipulate my topdecks (although this is still more limited than I'd like), or by just getting so many Yuriko triggers that it doesn't matter if half my flips are land.

Strategy: either getting so many ninja out that I get enough flips that it doesnt matter if they're all guaranteed high cmc cards or not (mainly through Arcane Adaptation, Xenograft, and things like Mist-Syndicate Naga), and/or being able to stack the top of my library with cards like Cavalier of Gales, Brainstorm, Dream Cache.

Jhoira (DOM) artefacts - Elsha Top - Mardu vampire tribal/lifegain.

Other decks played: Ghired populate - Tuvasa enchantments - Estrid enchantments.

Other decks I know people have: C19 Rakdos precon - Sliver tribal / C18 Jund & Esper precons / C17 Grixis & Ur-Dragon precons.

  • Behold the Beyond for Dream Cache or Brainstorm + any 2 high cmc cards (normally Rags / Riches, The Cauldron of Eternity, etc), then Brainstorm/Dream Cache them to the top for a maximum of 23 damage to each player off 2 flips. (although this is fairly unrealistic and would have to be done over 2 turns as getting the mana for it isn't the most viable)

  • needs to be much faster; keep getting focused after 1-2 triggers - may have partially solved this; deck now consistently wins on turn 6 when goldfishing
  • struggling to get creatures to stick for long enough to attack with them - I have a lot of interaction; need to make better decisions on how to use it
  • need more ways to get cards on top of my library - added Cavalier of Gales; still need more ways of doing this however
  • not super sure about Future Sight and Precognition Field; when goldfishing, if I get to cast a 5cmc spell, it's usually Xenograft and will win me the game on the spot if I have enough ninjas out. in real games, the deck fizzles if we get to 5-6 mana and I don't have enough creatures on the field for flip triggers. maybe swap them out for more interaction or ninjas?
(for my own reference so I don't have to redo my searches)
