You'll Wish You Had One With Nothing: A Breakdown

My first serious and well made commander deck that I still run and own to this day is a Kami of the Crescent Moon deck. The deck is a Group Slug style deck that wins through copying the card Viseling with Rite of Replication. Eventually, I started looking into other fun cards that had similar effects, cards like Storm Seeker and Sudden Impact, When I first saw these cards, I knew I wanted to build a deck where these "Hand Burn" spells can be the stars.

My first attempt at this deck build was a Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis it used big creatures like Multani, Maro-Sorcerer, Maro, Adamaro, First to Desire. It also used all of the same "You'll Wish You Had One With Nothing" Hand Burn spells in this deck that you are seeing now. And lastly the deck used cards that slowed everyone down like Rule of Law and Arcane Laboratory.

This first build attempt was horrible and slow and didn't feel right, it was missing something. I took all the cards from the build, set them aside, and I waited until a new commander option came out. And that's when I saw him in his glorious beauty Xyris, the Writhing Storm, when it leaked, I knew right away ... Xyris, the Writhing Storm who will lead this deck.

I love deck building, and I love building my own unique and different decks. If you go through all of my deck lists I have some very questionable cards in all of my decks. This is because I always need to add my own special flare. The best feeling in magic is getting your opponent to be surprised by the cards in your deck.

Impact Tremors, Purphoros, God of the Forge, Beastmaster Ascension, Seshiro the Anointed, Ohran Frostfang, Craterhoof Behemoth, Coat of Arms, Eldrazi Monument.

Adding these cards to the deck would 1.) Dumb the deck down and give it no flavor 2.) Make the deck insanely easy to win, thus taking the fun out of the deck.

EDHRec is a blessing and a curse, it has hindered creativity across the EDH world.

First, the goal is to get Xyris, the Writhing Storm on the board.

Once on board, the next immediate strategy is to get snakes from wheels with cards like Winds of Change and Wheel and Deal or for slower (yet still effective results), use cards like Font of Mythos and Howling Mine.

Once snakes are on board it is time to convert these snakes into mana with cards like Battle Hymn, Cryptolith Rite, Phyrexian Altar, and Ashnod's Altar to hopefully go on a spell slinging rampage.
