You desperately need more card draw for this deck.

No problem Triton. So how has Harsh Mercy been working for you? I'm now looking for a copy (I admittedly didn't know the card existed lol)

VexenX that's a good point, I only have Phyrexian Arena and Well of Lost Dreams as card draw for the deck after looking at it. Any suggestions outside of maybe Read the Bones?

Last_Laugh I haven't drawn into it yet, having just ordered it lol. On paper, I think it'll be good in the long run after the C17 hype dies off, since most people will be playing those. It's amazing in a deck with many creature types but is usually ineffective against other tribal decks. I'll let you know how it goes for me!

Thanks for all the input!

Try Greed. With the life gain you have, it won't be a big issue.

Other good includes for draw are Queen Marchesa and Sorin, Grim Nemesis. Marcheesie gives card draw and tokens, and if you pick up Mephidross Vampire or use Olivia Voldaren, you can also make them vampires (vampire anthems save the tokens from dying). Sorin, while arguably a bit slow, is a decent card draw engine.

Raptorlisk I definitely agree with the inclusion of Greed, and know what to cut for it.

Sorin, Grim Nemesis is good except he's a tad hefty of a CMC. I will consider him, however! Queen Marchesa isn't really a vampire, so I don't want to hurt the flavor too much.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I like this deck a lot. I wonder, though, if Darksteel Plate could help protect your commander, as well as Lightning Greaves for some instant haste and shroud effects. Maybe some more board wipes, like Wrath of God or Doomsday.

Door of Destinies is a staple in any tribal, but don't forget Coat of Arms. Don't forget to Back up Butcher of Malakir with Dictate of Erebos and Death Pact, too. There are more, but you have a good base to start with.

Looks like a very interesting deck. I would recommend adding another anti-board wipe like Eerie Interlude, or Ghostway. I run Kindred Boon and put divinity counters on my tokens as able, because they can chump block, survive destruction, and no one is going to bother spot removing them. If I want to board wipe, I'll leave my tokens with divinity counters and use eerie interlude to blink my other creatures, or Teferi's Protection. Having at least two options against board wipes is minimal for this deck, IMO. Also, you may consider Westvale abbey as I feel it is in flavor and can be a nice response to a boardwipe or a deterent - a 9/7 flying indestructable and lifelink - yea, not sure anyone wants that on the board. You can add expedition map to improve your chances of drawing it.

I like your selection of the Bloodline necromancer and Phyrexian Reclamation for graveyard recursion - I made the same selection.

Anyhow here is a link to my deck from deckstats - https://deckstats.net/decks/90341/797797-edgar-the-godfather-a-friend-s

2nd option for anti-boardwipe should be Boros Charm not as handy against exile or -1-1 wipes but the extra modes are nice to have and it's all your permanents are indestructible. A meta call really.

Yes! Boros charm. I actually have that as well in my deck - it can be super helpful. Three anti-board wipes is even better, and if you throw in Westvale Abbey, you have a forth deterent.

Urza's Incubator is super helpful in this deck. I think a little more card draw would be super helpful as well Reforge the Soul, Phyrexian Arena, or (one the expensive side) Wheel of Fortune all work great.

+1 from me

Take a look at my deck and let me know what you think.

SaifurCommander I don't usually cast my commander tbh, so I don't really have much to protect him when I do cast him. I used to have Dictate of Erebos in the deck, but removed it because of space issues. However, I want to add it in place of Butcher of Malakir due to efficiency. Doomsday isn't a boardwipe, but a tutorabd even so it's not that good in this deck because I don't have any efficient, game-winning combos.

timothysavage1 I removed Kindred Boon when I got the deck because while it's pretty good, I think I'd rather spend the mana on more spells burn I'll reconsider it.

Last_Laugh I'll add in Boros Charm, but I do need some assistance in making cuts since space feels a tad tight.

stewa238 Urza's Incubator is a tad expensive for me at the moment so I'll hold off on it. I dunno if I have plenty of ramp but so far I'm just struggling on card draw. I'll take those suggestions into consideration. ;)

Thanks for all the advice!

My personal suggestions on cuts would be Worn Powerstone and Goblin Bombardment to test new cards. Impact Tremors (replace with Purphoros, God of the Forge or open for 3rd new card), Mortify and Wear // Tear (replace both with 2x of Path to Exile, Vindicate, or Anguished Unmaking).

Triton says... #14

Last_Laugh I agree on Wear / Tear and Mortify, I guess I'll just splurge a bit on premium removal (rip paycheck). I'll see what I can get for cheap.

My summer vacation is almost over so I'm not gonna be working full-time at my job because of school so money may be tight because of that. :/

Congrats on the #4 rank! That's leaps and bounds ahead of my Markov deck (Lord Markov Rules Here) which is only at #38.

Congrats!

id like to recommend Whip of Erebos very helpful in bringing back guys for a turn and gives your cliffhaven vampire triggers like crazy the more guys you have with lifelink

August 31, 2017 12:09 p.m.

Triton says... #17

Darkshadow327 thanks so much! Honestly I'm impressed myself, because my highest-ranking deck in the past was #15-16. Congrats on making it to the top!

frogkill45 I've actually never considered Whip of Erebos. The only downside is the exile clause, but I guess you can't get all the goodness. I'll heavily consider it, especially for the lifelink!

Thanks for the suggestion and kind words!

I feel like you could get a ton of value out of Stromkirk Noble rather than Shadow Alley Denizen. +1, incredibily solid deck dude

September 1, 2017 10:40 a.m.

DrkNinja says... #19

@Snap157 Stromkirk is great as a turn one card, but when you look at 1 drops you have to look at their impact later in the game. Stromkirk turn 1 is great, but turn 7? Turn 7, chump blocks, burn, -1/-1, etc... His impact starts to dwindle. Denizen on the other hand turn 7 I play a vampire and now Edgar has intimidate. Denizen impacts the game past turn 1.

Triton says... #20

Snap157 I have both in here, and as DrkNinja mentioned you get quite a bit of value once you get your vampires going, usually triggering her ability 2x per vampire cast warrants a spot imo. Especially good in a combat-based deck like this. Noble kinda feels meh because he is just a beater..

Thanks for the advice and upvote!

Btw Triton Maze of Ith is stupid good in this deck. Drana and Edgar triggers for free.

DrkNinja True, the only problem is acquiring one, since they're not cheap. I will definitely add it into the maybeboard, thanks for the suggestion!

9$ isn't that bad...

I'll buy it eventually, just saving money for other things at the moment.

September 2, 2017 6:59 p.m.

I've started my Edgar Markov deck and while searching through cards that may be useful I came across Cauldron of Souls it could be useful with surviving boardwipes and maybe even removal in general, with all the +1/+1 counters Edgar decks usually generate it'd be quite good in here.

If you'd be willing to give advice on my deck it'd be appreciated. Hope I helped :)
