Dominaria —May 1, 2018

Dominaria doesn't have anything for the deck, but at least this set is interesting so that's a plus.

Mox Amber is a trap for storm please do not play it--why couldn't this card be legendary permanent.

I see that you play Yawmoth's Will, but why not Past in Flames for consistency? They mostly do the same thing in this deck and Past in Flames only costs 1 more

When playing Ad Naus, the total cost of a card, not just the comparative cost, is significantly important. So Past In Flames isn't only 1 cmc more than Yawgmoth's Will, it costs 4. In a deck that is already playing thick cards like Mind's Desire and Time Spiral, adding another fat one makes Ad Naus that much harder to win with.

They also don't do similiar things. Yawgmoth's Will allows me to cast artifacts, lands, and creatures, all of which enable far more robust turns. Mana efficieny is more of a factor when playing a 4 color deck than others. Yawgmoth will can easily be ritualed into, where as Past In Flames can not. To cast Past In Flames I need red mana, and I usually don't have any to spare, all of it going toward a Wheel, Gamble, or Blast. And using Manamorphosis to make make anything other than blue/black mana makes casting Desire and Doomsday way harder.

Will has always been enough, I've never found myself wishing for a Past In Flames. The deck has enough recursion to put Will back in your hand or deck if you've discarded it to a wheel or hand disruption.

Basically, the deck doesn't need the Past In Flames. The card loses a massive amount of value from not being able to run four-of rituals, and I'm not going to saturate the deck with the bad red ones to make the card better. Including it won't add the consistency you want.

Hey man! Its been awhile. Hope school is going well.

Was just casually browsing over this bad boy and was wondering if youve considered Tainted Pact. It seems viable as a 2 mana instant speed tutor to hand (cough cough LDV) with your high tide-less, singleton mana base. Its a bit risky in a DD based shell, but as long as you arent too greedy, I would think it would be playable to some extent. Anyways dude, hope the quarter is going well and we gotta have some more games soon with the rest of the crew!

Hey man, the quarter is going well.

I don't like the exile effects in this deck as there isn't a whole lot of payoff. It's a super risky win condition/tutor that needs a lot of set up (as a win condition), and is made worse by the fact that you don't have a whole lot of counterspells to protect it.

There are enough Wheels in the deck that make it so you don't have to worry about drawing Lab Man; you'll get a new hand at some point.

Even with all this, the Waste Not is a little dated and should probably go, so if you want to jam this combo you could without really hurting the deck. Plus, I don't know what to replace the Waste Not with at the moment.
