I've always wanted to build an elf deck for commander. Common choices would include Ezuri, Renegade Leader or Freyalese, Llanowar's Fury. I however, decided to go with Yeva, Nature's Herald as the general.

Reasons for going with Yeva: Being able to flash out your elves right before your turn gives them a sort of extra layer of protection. It makes it harder for opponents to interact with you at sorcery speed. It also makes your manadorks a lot more efficient, as you can save them up for blocks and still utilize their mana for creatures during an opponent's turn. Being able to operate at instant speed also makes Heritage Druid ridiculously good.You can also do some sweet combos with stuff like Elvish Visionary + Wirewood Symbiote on everyone's turn.

I'll still have to do some testing and tweaking with this deck. As you can see, my Maybeboard is huge because there's just so many different elves and spells to choose from. I'll probably have to add some more tutors, as it's very important for the deck to get the card draw engines, such as Beast Whisperer , Soul of the Harvest , Primordial Sage etc. online. These make the deck really shine.

I'm also considering adding Prowling Serpopard and/or Gaea's Herald back in, as they can technically double up as counterspells against counterspells. (Though this is dependant on the playgroup you're playing with and how rampant counterspells are.)
