Commander: foil Meren of Clan Nel Toth

Maybeboard

A competitive combo deck made for multiplayer, focused on ramping early, controlling the board through resource denial, and closing out the game with one of several combos.

This deck is a work-in-progress. All of the cards in the maybeboard are either cards I still have to buy/trade for or cards that I'm considering putting in, and there are a few... questionable card choices in the mainboard due to budget constraints.

Mike and Trike

A classic edh combo, easily enabled with Buried Alive and Victimize. Since the printing of Walking Ballista, there are two ways to pull of this combo.

Triskelion Method

  1. Play/reanimate Triskelion (Trike) and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed (Mike).
  2. Shoot 2 things (preferably your opponent's face) with Trike's ability.
  3. With the third counter, make Trike shoot itself (Note: Trike gets a static +1/+1 from Mike's third ability).
  4. Trike dies, then comes back due to Mike giving it undying. It enters with 4 +1/+1 counters on it.
  5. Shoot 3 things, then shoot Trike again.
  6. Since Trike no longer has any counters on him, undying will trigger again. Trike enters with another 4 +1/+1 counters.
  7. Repeat until your opponents are nice and dead.

Ballista Method

  1. Get Walking Ballista, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, and a sac outlet (for instance, Viscera Seer).
  2. If you got ballista from the graveyard, or played it for (cheapskate), sacrifice it. It'll come back with a +1/+1 counter.
  3. Shoot something
  4. Sac ballista
  5. Repeat

Protean Hulk

As long as you can kill/sac the hulk one time (provided the combo pieces are still in your deck) and have more than 7 life to pay for delver, you win the game.

  1. Play/reanimate Protean Hulk
  2. Kill it
  3. Hulk fetches Phyrexian Delver and Viscera Seer (if you already have a sac outlet, skip ahead to step 5).
  4. Delver gets back hulk from the graveyard.
  5. Sac hulk again, grab Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Walking Ballista. Follow the instructions for the Mike and Trike combo above (If your ballista has been exiled/discarded/whatever, continue to step 6).
  6.

  7. Sac delver, it comes back from the undying trigger, grab hulk for the third time.
  8. Sac it to finally search for Triskelion. Again, see "Mike and Trike" above.
  9. Nooze

Another combo that uses Trike, albeit slightly differently. This combo is particularly easy to set up using Buried Alive due to the fact that two of its cards need to be in the graveyard. One very important thing to note, however, is that this isn't an infinite combo, and if you don't have enough cards in your deck, or your opponents have too much life, you won't be able to close out the game.

    1. Shove Triskelion and Phyrexian Devourer into your graveyard. Walking Ballista also works.
    2. Play/reanimate Necrotic Ooze (nooze)
    3. Exile a bunch of cards from your deck to put a bunch of counters onto the nooze. Since nooze only copies _activated_ abilities, not triggered ones, you can heap as many +1/+1 as you want onto it using the devourer's second ability without ever having to worry about it getting too big
    4. Use Trike/Ballista's ability to pew-pew your opponents to death

    Advice is greatly appreciated!
