Exclusions:
  • Dark Confidant: This card is typically very good in these types of decks. However, what you'll find is that if you're unable to manipulate the top of your deck while Dark Confidant is out, he can do a ton of damage to you, especially if you're playing both Temporal Trespass and Emrakul, the Promised End.

  • Lion's Eye Diamond/Yawgmoth's Will: These cards are pretty typical in Doomsday decks due to their application to the Doomsday pile. However, you'll find that, since you typically cast the first card in your pile for free (or you put Predict on Top so your pile is only 4 cards), these cards force you to go shields down, which is unnecessary when you have a pile that only requires two mana. Yawgmoth's Will is a good card on its own, but I've found it to be excessive as it essentially acts as a second Snapcaster Mage. If you want two Snaps, then you're more than welcome to try it.

  • Elesh Norn, the Grand Cenobite/Iona, Shield of Emeria/Sphinx of the Final Word - All of these cards have their applications and, while they're all odd, what they end up doing is either being big beaters in multiplayer or "oops I win" in 1v1. The issue is if you open with them, you're often trying to get them out of your hand and if we're going to play "uncastable" cards at all, Emrakul is the best one. If you wanted to play a no-Doomsday variant, these may be worth considering.

Notable changes you may want to make:
  • Underground Sea/Tundra/Scrubland -> Sunken Hollow/Prairie Stream/Island(s)

  • Timetwister -> Windfall

  • Fetchlands -> Drowned Catacombs/Glacial Fortress/Isolated Chapel/Underground River/Adarkar Wastes/Caves of Koilos/Mystic Gate/Sunken Ruins/Fetid Heath/Island(s)

  • Mox Opal/Mox Diamond/Mana Crypt/Mana Vault/Chrome Mox -> Coalition Relic/Commander's Sphere/Chromatic Lantern/Darksteel Ingot (if Chromatic Lantern is out of your budget, replace it with an Island)

  • Demonic Tutor/Vampiric Tutor/Cruel Tutor/Imperial Seal -> Final Parting/Diabolic Tutor/Mastermind's Inquisition/Liliana Vess (Cut Liliana for a land if you can't afford it)

  • Force of Will/Mana Drain -> Mana Leak/Countersquall

  • Enlightened Tutor -> Fabricate (this usually only grabs Scroll Rack, turn into a land if you're not playing Scroll Rack)

  • Jace, the Mind Sculptor/Snapcaster Mage/Jace, Vryn's Prodigy (all value cards) -> Dig Through Time/Treasure Cruise/Mystic Confluence

  • Scroll Rack -> Thassa, God of the Sea/Crystal Ball

  • NOTE When adjusting your land base, try to stay away from anything that enters tapped. If you cannot afford any fetches, there isn't a huge incentive to play shock lands, so you can also turn those into budget options such as non-blue basics.
