This is my take on Yawgmoth, Thran Physician.

This deck is my MTG pet project. Over the years I've played EDH, mono-black has been something I've dabbled with but I have never found a commander that appealed to me as much as Yawgmoth. On top of that, being a MTG lore fan myself, the chance to build a deck helmed by one of MTG's iconic villains was something I couldn't resist. I'm having a lot of fun playing this deck as well, so that's yet another bonus.

Gamplay-wise, this deck is typical of most Yawgmoth builds: play lots of sacrifice fodders, sacrifice them to the glory of Yawgmoth, weakening and killing opponents' creatures while drawing lots of cards and hopefully into one of the wincons.

As I make changes to the deck, I plan to also expand on this section. Maybe make it into a primer someday, if time permits.

CARDS OUT:

Charcoal Diamond

CARDS IN:

Manakin

  • I made this swap because Manakin can still function as a sacrifice fodder in mid-to-late game. No real loss of tempo since Charcoal Diamond enters the battlefield tapped anyway, and the deck has no issues with black mana sources.
