Yarok, the Desecrated- Landfall Abuse

Commander / EDH BUG (Sultai) Lands

This deck allows for the abuse of landfall triggers in order to propel your board state ahead of everyone else’s... and of course win the game!

One of the win cons in this deck is the combination of Meloku the Clouded Mirror, Retreat to Coralhelm, and Sakura-Tribe Scout. This 3 piece combo creates infinite 1/1 flyers!! Of course, these cards work great on their own as well, as Meloku can allow you to return a land to your hand to play the turn as well, as there are multiple cards that allow you to play multiple lands... and even place lands on opponents turns... to abuse the landfall triggers as much as possible.

Another win con is Aetherflux Reservoir. Yarok himself has lifelink, and cards like Polluted Bonds, Lifegift, and Retreat to Hagra end up giving you a lot of life, really fast. Shoot someone off the face of the plain!!!

Two more win cons are Scapeshift and Oblivion Sower. Scapeshift can outright win the game with the landfall triggers it sends hay wire, but Oblivion Sower requires more explaining. Use Hedron Crab to mill your opponents for days... and then exile their graveyards with Bajuka Bog or Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. Bonus- Ashiok exiles from their library and their hand as well! Sire of Stagnation exiles whenever they play a land, and before long, the amount of cards (and lands) and opponent has in exile are significant. Use Oblivion Sower to give those lands to you... and it could end up being more effective than Scapeshift! Landfall triggers for days!

Of course, we like to reuse lands here. Use Sylvan Safekeeper to protect your creatures and get lands in the graveyard. Use The Gitrog Monster to play an additional land and get lands in the graveyard. Use Sunder for a landwipe, and you’re sure to be ahead in no time with the amount of cards that allow you to play additional lands. Discard to hand size because of Sunder or just to large a hand (which will happen often).. and that’s more lands in the graveyard. Get them back with Splendid Reclamation all at once or Ramunap Excavator one at a time!

The landfall triggers themselves are important. Rampaging Baloths gives you creatures, Roil Elemental steals creatures, and Ob Nixilis, the Fallen gets big and damages opponents. Every landfall trigger was chosen because they are powerful, and other etb triggers were chosen as support.

This deck sets you up for success. Play lands. Abuse those triggers. And get a really scary board really fast. One second you can be behind... and the next you’ve won the game! This deck sets you up for success with the endless possibilities it contains, as the win cons go beyond the ones I listed above. Any card with a landfall trigger could be a win con if kept unchecked by your opponents, as they aren’t a one time effect, they keep building throughout the game, and that is what makes this deck special.

If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments below!!! **this deck was built on a budget

Updates Add

I added Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Bojuka Bog, and Oblivion Sower to be used together. These pair with Oblivion Sower who is already in the deck. I like the idea of getting many lands at once onto the battlefield.
