Deck #2 in the Big Dumb Tribal Series

Introduction

This is my Dragon Tribal deck, upgraded from the Draconic Domination precon, and the deck that has become the second in a series of decks I'm referring to as the Big Dumb Tribal series. I went with The Ur-Dragon as the Commander, because I think he's fun, and his Eminence mechanic is just too valuable to tuck away into the 99. His CMC is very high, but I've got plenty of ramp and acceleration that help mitigate the cost, and I rarely pay the full cost to cast him. I thought the precon was really pretty decent out of the box, and it had lots of good pieces already, so tweaking it hasn't been a huge investment. Due to the deck being WUBRG, the big issue is consistency. I've had some explosive starts to games, and I have had some real duds, too. I'm hoping the changes I've made to the mana base help out, and if need be, I may just drop all basics all together, and to hell with the Blood Moons that are out there.

There's really not much to tell here; attack with dragons. But I do have a few little synergies built in that might not be consistent enough to hit every game, but they are flavorful to me, and will be fun when they work. Here's a little rundown of what I've got going on.

For the ramp in the deck, I've gone with mostly mana rocks instead of land tutors, and also with some accelerators that help make the dragons even cheaper than The Ur-Dragon does. Rocks include Izzet Signet, Golgari Signet, Gruul Signet, Dimir Signet, Worn Powerstone, Commander's Sphere, and Sol Ring. Fist of Suns offers a nice alternative way of casting dragon spells, including my Commander the first time around (I know taxes apply afterwards). Savage Ventmaw and Ramos, Dragon Engine add some nice ramp to use later in a turn, and Dragon's Hoard is a nice flavor win that hits both ramp and card draw.

For what I like to refer to as acceleration, or cards that reduce the cost of the dragon spells here, I've got The Ur-Dragon himself, Dragonlord's Servant, Dragonspeaker Shaman, Herald's Horn, and Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma, which is basically filling in here as a poor man's Urza's Incubator, which I might add in the future.

For starters, The Ur-Dragon provides me with both. He draws cards when dragons attack, and then has a Rishkar's Expertise-like effect after drawing, which can just be back-breaking in games.

For straight up card drawing, I'v got Vanquisher's Banner, Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, Rhystic Study, Kindred Discovery, Elemental Bond, Temur Ascendancy, and Dragon's Hoard.

More card advantage is provided by the likes of Intet, the Dreamer, Kindred Summons, Herald's Horn, and Sunbird's Invocation. Sarkhan Unbroken can draw, ramp, and fill the board with dragons. He's just an all-star.

I have a little bit of tutoring built into the deck, but not a whole lot. All-star Sarkhan Unbroken can tutor every dragon in the deck onto the battlefield, if I'm lucky enough to get him to ultimate, but I'm not hanging my hat on that. Scion of the Ur-Dragon can tutor up any dragon and pitch it into the bin, and then Teneb, the Harvester or Bladewing the Risen can reanimate them. Since the deck is full of legendary dragons, Captain Sisay is a perfect fit, and Zirilan of the Claw is too.
There are plenty of dragons that do more than just swing for big damage. Intet, the Dreamer, Teneb, the Harvester, Rith, the Awakener, Crosis, the Purger, and Dromoka, the Eternal all have useful activated abilities if they connect with combat damage. Dragon Tempest, Scalelord Reckoner, Steel Hellkite, Tyrant's Familiar, Ojutai, Soul of Winter, and Deathbringer Regent all provide some form of removal, be it temporary or more permanent. Silumgar, the Drifting Death and Atarka, World Render provide combat bonuses, and Hellkite Charger can end a game for someone.

I've tried to squeeze in a couple sac outlets, mainly to help avoid Zirilan of the Claw exiling my dragons after tutoring them up. And if I have a handful of my legendary dragons in the bin, I've got Primevals' Glorious Rebirth to refill my board and get back to work.

Anthem Effects

Most of the anthem effects here are provided from sources other than the dragons themselves. Big dragons don't really need much buffing to help them out, and most of the anthem effects I have here are incidentally provided from a card filling another need.

Vanquisher's Banner does all kinds of work, and giving a +1/+1 boost is just gravy. Dromoka, the Eternal brings up the dragons who are lagging behind to even out the threat of the team, and Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma gives a combat boost along with trample. Silumgar, the Drifting Death nerfs the competition a little bit when dragons attack. Atarka, World Render and Sylvia Brightspear provide double strike, and although not really an anthem effect, Utvara Hellkite gives all the reason we need to turn the team sideways.
Only one infinite combo here, with Aggravated Assault + Savage Ventmaw for all the attack phases we need to finish the job. Scion of the Ur-Dragon + Primevals' Glorious Rebirth is a play I can't wait to pull off.

That's pretty much the gist of the deck. I've got a few more tweaks I want to make, mainly looking to add Dragon Arch, Sylvia Brightspear, and maybe Rishkar's Expertise. Otherwise, I'm set to go with dragon tribal. As always, comments and suggestions are always welcome, and I appreciate you taking the time to look it over.
