I'm moving all of my previous comments here. Also, I got four foil Rootbound Crags.

I just played against two modern decks, a Green/Blue/Red spider deck and a Blue/Black mill, and won seven matches in a row. My deck really outpaced them, especially due to Captain Canada. The thing is, I lost most of the rolls to go first.

I'm down to one Mondronen Shaman, and I was thinking about putting a fourth Kruin Outlaw in.

3 Outlaws should be enough. I would consider another Wolfir Silverheart or card:Full Moon's Rise in place of the Shaman.

Since Immerwolf and Huntmaster of the Fells actually clash (one trying to flip all the time for best benefit, the other trying to keep cards from flipping), you might consider putting one play set or the other into your sideboard and switching them for one another as needed.

Well I'm sure zandl would still back me up on this...

Dropping a Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip with Immerwolf on the battlefield nexts you two 3/3s and two life for four mana. Then when he flips you get two Shock s and a 5/5 trample. In most games without Immerwolf , you may be lucky to see him go full werewolf and back again more than twice.

In an ideal setting for aggro werewolves, when he hits the field you may already have Immerwolf and Mayor of Avabruck  Flip as a welcome committee. In which case you're getting a 4/4 and a 3/3 for four mana. Now, let's say you declare attack on Turn 5 and cast Moonmist . Huntmaster flips, Shock s your opponent and a potential blocker off the board, and is now a 6/6 Ravager of the Fells  Flip . In addition, you've now got a 4/4 Howlpack Alpha  Flip , a 3/3 Immerwolf , a 4/4 wolf token, and another 4/4 wolf token coming at the end of your turn.

In a midrange deck, running less creatures with less interaction based on their creature type...Yes, Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip and Immerwolf have no business being on the same battlefield together. In an aggro werewolves deck, Ravager of the Fells  Flip is your best offensive creature, and Immerwolf makes sure he stays that way.

I'm going to agree with what emrakool said regarding Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip and Immerwolf , they don't have the best synergy outside of Werewolf Aggro, but that's exactly what I'm running. If you're in a position where Immerwolf isn't letting Ravager flip back, you're probably doing pretty well already.

Also, I put a second Wolfir Silverheart in place of Mondronen Shaman  Flip , since I'm trying to keep my creature count high enough for Domri Rade , and 1 more mana isn't too hateful in a deck where nothing else is above 4. Sure, it's a creature that isn't affected by card:Full Moon's Rise or Terror of Kruin Pass  Flip 's second ability, but it still has nice interaction with Immerwolf , Howlpack Alpha  Flip , and Moonmist . That, and it can potentially give an amazing buff to any other creature I want, and is an 8/8 body to boot.

Also, I did something really fun earlier today against an Orzhov EDH deck (No General, 20 life) with this deck:

Turn 1: Reckless Waif  Flip

Turn 2: Opponent didn't play a spell. Waif becomes Merciless Predator  Flip . Bloodrush Ghor-Clan Rampager for 7 trample damage. On turn two.

I've always been a Gruul fan myself since the deck that introduced me to the game involved pairing up Priest of Titania and Skyshroud Elf to toast people with Shivan Hellkite . Ghor-Clan Rampager got me excited for Gruul shenanigans coming back to Standard.

Feel free to check out my werewolves deck, Transformers! Werewolves in Disguise! if you like. I haven't done any RtR or Gatecrash updates yet, with the exception of Stomping Ground .

It seems like we've got very similar builds to our decks. I'll look at your sideboard for ideas, though, since mine really isn't refined to deal with anything yet.

Ghor-Clan Rampager is amazing, by the way, it's a strictly better Colossal Might . Since its Bloodrush isn't a spell (it's an activated ability), it doesn't count towards the amount of spells cast to prevent Human Werewolves from flipping to their bestial side, and it doesn't count for the total for nonhuman Werewolves to flip back. Also, it can't be countered as easily as other spells.

...also, I got a few of the flip Human/Wolf promo tokens, because this artwork is awesome. Now I have 6 Innistrad, 6 Zendikar, 6 Mirran Sword, and 6 Promo arts. I like having the different arts to keep track of what Mayor/Huntmaster made which token.

Yeah I've got a pretty good token collection going myself. My personal favorites are the Garruk Relentless  Flip deathtouch wolf, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad 's lifelink vampire, and Bloodline Keeper  Flip 's flying vampire. They seem to be some of the hardest tokens to come by that are relevant for Standard.

My personal favorites for the sideboard right now are Ancient Grudge and Creeping Renaissance . The former I may replace with Sundering Growth , allowing me to populate my wolf tokens. The latter is in case someone sends my werewolves to the graveyard faster than I can draw them. Also, Pillar of Flame for matchups against zombies and Witchbane Orb against mill or Bonfire of the Damned .

Right, it helps since Bonfire targets the player. Sweet, I'll be sure to pick some of those cards up, they sound pretty useful.

As far as tokens go, I've also got some Shadowmoor/M10 wolves and Lorwyn wolves, but they're my least favorites of the seven, and I only have so much room in my 100-card deckbox.I also have four Deathtouch wolves, but I only have one Garruk Relentless  Flip for them (I sadly traded away my foil Relentless for the fourth Huntmaster)

Immerwolf + Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip is a fantastic combination.

Anyone who has ever played with Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip will tell you that flipping back to the Human side is a rare occurrence, at best. If he flips once, you already have the value you're playing him for. And a 5/5 Trample is pretty beefy - make no mistake.

I so miss the days when I could cast Moonmist and take down a 6/6 titan with the old Ravager of the Fells  Flip shock and block.

I must admit, Ravager of the Fells  Flip really looks like he's ready to Lunge at the opponent.

I played a few games against a modern Simic deck and a standard Dimir deck a few minutes ago. The first game was rather easy to win, since my deck greatly outpaced the others, I even had enough excess mana to risk putting a Stomping Ground into play tapped. Also, Terror of Kruin Pass  Flip was amazing as always, winning me the game because of its Pyreheart ability.

The second game, the Simic deck used a flying 3/3 Vigilance Hexproof Flying creature/enchantment combo on turn two, and I was struggling to stay alive... except I got both a card:Full Moon's Rise and a Wolfir Silverheart on the battlefield at the same time (The rest of my battlefield was three Wolves, a Merciless Predator  Flip , a Krallenhorde Killer  Flip , and a Howlpack Alpha  Flip . My opponent decided to block the Howlpack Alpha  Flip that the Silverheart was soulbound to (despite it not having trample), and it took little effort to off the other deck.

I added an actual sideboard. Thoughts?

I feel like Domri Rade is a wasted slot since you have so many non-creature spells. Better off with another Searing Spear or Mizzium Mortars .

I would look at Naturalize or Sundering Growth for the sideboard to give some more versatile removal.

Zealous Conscripts is always a good one to consider as well.

I took out the sideboarded Rancor s for Triumph of Ferocity , since my deck has powerful creatures and needs more card draw.

Thoughts on card:Descendants' Path? Kind of a guessing game, but sometimes you get to drop creatures for free.

Orohu says... #19

That sounds pretty good, as well, as it helps my tribal and doesn't interfere with a Bonfire miracle (since this doesn't say draw and isn't a draw step)

I also have two Revenge of the Hunted , if you think my deck needs it.

Domri Rade is perfect in here. As long as you have at least 20 creatures in the deck, you'll get some use out of him.

Domri's -2 can be a game-changer, too. And his ultimate (which is relatively easy to pull off) will win you the game.

I'm not expecting to get his emblem out into play (protecting him for four turns isn't easy) but his first two abilities are awesome,

I did get an official emblem card in a trade... for ten chewy sweetarts. No joke.

I'm thinking about sideboarding Creeping Renaissance , for recovery from a board wipe. Thoughts?

I'm thinking more about getting more Ghor-Clan Rampager s for this deck. Any opinions on this?

February 25, 2013 2:53 p.m.

Emrakool says... #24

Depending on if you have another I'd go to 2x Bonfire of the Damned and cut Mizzium Mortars , giving you room for another Rampager.

If I can save up enough for another Bonfire of the Damned, I certainly will.

I also just ordered a playmat with Chris Rahn's Ravager of the Fells artwork, I'll post pics when it is made and arrives. Upscaling it and touching it up was a bit of a pain, but it should look awesome when it arrives.
