Fine Tuning —June 22, 2016

Added:

City of Solitude: Stops counterspells which are the bane of this deck as well as instant-speed removal on my turn. This card helps protect my big burn spells and key creatures like Craterhoof Behemoth and Purphoros, God of the Forge.

Worldly Tutor: there are only a handful of creatures in my deck but a few of them are win cons (Craterhoof Behemoth, Purphoros, God of the Forge, Avenger of Zendikar). It made sense to add a way to tutor for them.

Pyroblast: Another anti-counterspell card.. Pyroblast can be copied with Wort to allow me to counter a counterspell and kill a blue permanent (like their commander)

Removed:

Dictate of the Twin Gods: I was finding this enchantment unnecessary most of the time. Plus it's a risky card since it double my opponents' damage too.

Dragon Broodmother: I love this card but it didn't really synergize too well with the deck. It would always be killed before I could accrue a lot of dragon tokens anyway.

Krenko, Mob Boss: Another great card but this isn't really a goblin tribal deck. Sorceries and instants that create tokens are far more effective in here.

McMayhem, I picked up a Tormenting Voice today and threw it in the deck. Also added Manamorphose for more card draw. With Tormenting Voice, Harrow, Mana Geyser, and Restock in there now, a good part of the deck has been inspired by your suggestions. Thanks again.

It seems like you need to protect Wort, the Raidmother, Maybe Swiftfoot Boots?

Thanks for the suggestion, dishmond. I've thought about using Swiftfoot Boots and Lightning Greaves. My deck is so light on creature cards I guess they would primarily be to protect Wort. I'll playtest with them a bit.

I was thinking, a little control might go a long way as well. Some of the best red control are Price of Glory and Shivan Harvest. You'd have the tokens to sac to slow your opponents down and they'd think twice about countering your stuff at risk of loosing more lands. Just a little more options there for you. You are going to be a target certainly, so consider ways to use those takens via more sac outlet in response to a Wrath. Goblin Bombardment isn't a bad option but you still might be lacking on sac outlets. Remember, you have zero non-creature tutors to pick from.

Last but not least: Mosswort Bridge and Tooth and Nail are fantastic options in a low creature, high resource deck. This will ensure you will get Createrhoof AND (pick your poison) out on the same turn, plus, if you mosswort TnN, boom...

Thanks for the suggestions, Walkman. Tooth and nail in particular interests me... Craterhoof and avenger of Zendikar... Evil laughter.

Great deck! Wort always +1.

Some suggestions:

  1. Earthcraft - Make every token a manadork.
  2. Perilous Forays - Ramp some more
  3. Fresh Meat - You kill my tokens? I double them and now they are 3/3
  4. Mycoloth - invest, them boom! (see the combo with Fresh Meat? :))

I love my Wort deck. Loads of fun! Do you have room for a Mana Echoes?

Have you thought about maybe adding Strionic Resonator? It does wonders in my Yore-Tiller deck, and I would only assume it would be great here too
