Woodland Wanderer Stompy

Modern* Casual

xxslatteryxx

I started to play magic around the time Battle for Zendikar came out. In all the Booster packs i bought, I kept seeing cards with an ability called converge, where the spell becomes more powerful for each color of mana you use to cast it. My very first mtg deck was built around these cards. Fast forwarding a couple years, I have constructed this more refined version of that janky original deck to be my fun to play casual deck. Here I will breakdown the card choices.

This deck wants to spend turns 1-3 getting as many colors of mana out as possible to be able to cast big threats on turn 4. These cards help with that.

4 Birds of Paradise Weak to removal but can put us ahead on mana on turn 1.

4 Sakura-Tribe Elder this card is great since you can chump block and then sacrifice and puts us ahead on mana when sacrificing during your opponents turn.

4 Adventurous Impulse A relatively simple card, I like this better than traverse for this deck because i can't guarantee I will turn delirium on for the creature tutor.

4 Farseek This card can put you ahead on mana but this feels like the worst card in the deck often times. It is a terrible late game draw.

4 Woodland Wanderer I love this card and he is actually quite powerful. Your are paying 4 mana for a 6/6 with vigilance and trample. With the 4 colors of mana to cast him he is way above curve.

4 Skyrider Elf The cool thing about this card is that you can cast him as a 2/2, 3/3, or 4/4 if you want to get him onto the battlefield earlier. Large flyers can end the game quickly.

4 Savage Knuckleblade this card offers some versatility that I like and can have extra mana dumped into him. being able to dodge removal is probably the most notable ability.

4 Chamber Sentry This card is a new addition i am trying out. Obviously this is no walkie b, but I think he has potential since he scales nicely and adds a removal component the deck doesn't have much of. We will see.

1 Chromanticore There are really no spells in MTG that cost all 5 colors of mana that are worth playing in this deck except this guy. Bestowing him on a Woodland Wanderer or something can also be back breaking late game.

4 Infuse with the Elements This card is low key one of the best in the deck. It permanently pumps your creatures and gives them trample until end of turn at instant speed. It is always fun watching your opponents face when you drop this on an attacking 5/5 Skyrider Elf .

3 Radiant Flames Helps defend against those go wide strategies. Also on flavor with the converge ability. Only downside is that it can torch some of your own creatures.

The manabase in this deck is probably one of the areas where being a casual deck hurts it but I think I have done an alright job with it and it feels pretty streamlined when I play with it. 20 may seem like a low amount, but with all the land tutoring it is plenty. Plus we want our deck to be thinned out of lands so we have a better chance of drawing powerful creatures.

Basics - 4 Forest , 1 Island , 1 Mountain , 1 Plains , 1 Swamp

Shocklands - 1 of each green shock-land ( Breeding Pool , Stomping Ground , Temple Garden , Overgrown Tomb )

4 of each green Fetch-land ( Verdant Catacombs , Mist Rainforest, Wooded Foothills , and Windswept Heath )

4 Exotic Orchard This is a really cool land I found that pretends to be a dual or tri-color land that comes in untapped.
