Description

Mono Green Wolf Tribal Deck. I want to make this a relatively viable deck while maintaining the tribal as much as possible. I would love suggestions please!

Really liking Rot Wolf, works very well with silverheart. If I can get a hold of the dual lands I may be splashing red.

I don't think Howlgiest or Feed the pack really help you for the mana cost.

Garruk Relentless is OK, but I would up him to a 2 of at least.

I would also up Rancor to a 4 of, drop Sacred Wolf and add Mayor of Avenbruck.

Yeah I agree, I was trying to work with what I have. I agree that feed that pack has not done very much but the howlgeist has actually given me a strong lead in numerous games.

I'm very hesitant to say, but maybe splash red for Immerwolf ?

I was certainly considering this. I figured if I do, I could also use a Pyreheart Wolf or two for a better overrun effect. I am just unsure if its worth splashing a color just for those.

You could use the dual lands cause they only need one red mana source but i understand what you're saying.

assuming I have a few Stomping Ground 's and Rootbound Crag 's, do you think its worth it to splash just for 4 immerwolves? any other red suggestions to throw in? (not necessarily creatures)

Yes, Immerwolf is that good in a wolf deck IMO. If you can get the dual lands to splash for him, it would help. And Pyreheart Wolf is decent too. You splash red for cheap removal like Searing Spear , cause I'm assuming Bonfire of the Damned is outside this deck's budget. ;)

Actually i already do have one bonfire. Its not a budget deck, there just are not very many expensive wolves.

I second Immerwolf, Pyreheart, and Mayor. Immerwolf is a miracle in decks like this. Pyreheart Wolf is fairly underrated for his efficiency, and if you can get Mayor of Avabruck  Flip flipped, he can end games.

Kessig Cagebreakers is a great card as well if you're going for a more midrange strategy.

Yeah i will definitely try to pick up the other two immerwolfs and dual lands. Just a question though, without considering the last ability of Immerwolf (i am currently not using any werewolves), is he still that essential?

February 25, 2013 6:08 p.m.

Not essential, per se. However, he is a low cmc lord with intimidate. Of course, he's even better with the mayor, but i'll quit the aggressive sell. hahaha

I also agree with adding Immerwolf and Mayor of Avabruck  Flip .

I'm not sure I understand the Quest for Renewal . Is that just for pseudo-vigilance?

Yes, if i splash red it will be removed, local meta involves a lot of token decks. Quest helped prevent early overrunning.

Splashing red would be great, even with that red splash you can add in some removal/burn, the Immerwolf and Mayor of Avabruck  Flip would be good, plus if you add in Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip , but he's better without Immerwolf

Maybe running another Coat of Arms would be good. card:Descendants' Path could be useful too.

yeah i regrettably traded away my paths before i was making this deck.

I don't think Rot Wolf is doing much there, and you could use 1more Wolfbriar Elemental.

Also, some mana ramping wouldn't hurt like Borderland Ranger, and some Llanowar Elves to get the game started.

Actually the rot wolf has won be multiple games, catching opponents off-guard with a beefed up infect/draw. i would put in another wolfbriar but im in the process of splashing red, which would weaken him somewhat.

Personally, I don't find infect fun, but if you find it good maybe add one or 2 more Rot Wolf, because you can't rely on one of those.

If you put red don't forget Pyreheart Wolf and Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip. But if you add some mana ramping, it won't have such a big effect on Wolfbriar Elemental.

Thanks for the idea, I am in the middle of making a wolf deck and this has helped a lot. Given me some ideas, for a casual deck. Red is a must with Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip

I think you need a way to trample over people, Triumph of the Hordes or Overrun are great for that especially since triumph gives infect
