Nothing says ramp like getting 4, 8, or even 16 mana from your commander, every turn. Yes, it can only be used on "X" costs, but since the deck is filled with those, it's no problem. The Hydra theme in the deck has grown and evolved over the years to be a prominent one, gradually replacing many of the weaker x-spells that used to exist there. But the hydras are fun too, as what is more fun than resolving a Blasphemous Act and none of your hard earned buddies dying?
