Self mill constellation midrange aggro!
Based on the old deck Who says we can't play in the graveyard? by Nigeltastic and a deck i loved in that Standard. Now that Sultai are a thing, I feel this deck could STILL be a thing. I mean, we lose
Lotleth Troll
and Grisly Salvage but we can make it work, i am sure!
Whip Targets
Abhorrent Overlord Brings in flying tokens. Pretty great overall and has built in flying.
Hornet Queen also brings in tokens but WITH DEATHTOUCH.
Soul of Innistrad
useful on the board, also in graveyard. a 6/6 deathtouch/lifelink isnt anything to scoff either.
Sagu Mauler
A sideboard card, bring in against targetted removal decks, or tokens for the built in trample in case Nylea, God of the Hunt isnt out.
Support Cards
Nyx Weaver drops cards into our graveyard, provides decent blocks and can return any key cards needed that may have accidentally been milled. Land and Whip are usually the cases.
Sylvan Caryatid decent body, is a creature so it counts towards Nighthowler if milled, and secures our mana fixing.
Satyr Wayfinder another mill dumper. A creature to chump with afterwards.
Herald of Torment
our evasive enabler once we have a huge bestowed Nighthowler to swing through with damage. Useful with or without Nylea, God of the Hunt.
Key Cards
Whip of Erebos is obviously the key card, as the deck is built around this and Nighthowler. Enabling lifelink allows us to be a little more reckless with blocks, as some creatures are required on the board and not all in the graveyard.
Nighthowler our other win condition. Fill the yard, kill their guys, let ours die, get a huge guy.
Strength of the Fallen
The constellation part of the deck. Over half of the deck is enchantment, so this triggers a lot. When two of these are on the field, its nasty. Not uncommon to swing with a 42/42. REMOVED FOR TESTING
Other cards
Sidisi, Brood Tyrant Synergizes very well with the deck and makes great removal target, and if not removed, makes a great target to bestow onto. She fills the grave and makes an army while we are at it.
Nylea, God of the Hunt Enables Trample. Triggers constellation. Pretty much all she is in here for. Trample is quite important since we start getting huge creatures, we want the damage to get through and not just be merely chumped.
Courser of Kruphix An allstar, gives life, allows semi ramp, big butt.
Brain Maggot
temporarily removes threats, triggers constellation and is a creature in the graveyard.
Hero's Downfall Targetted removal is great, planeswalkers are an issue in this deck.
Murderous Cut
almost always cast for B, great all round.
Erebos, God of the Dead with the ever prevalent Abzan decks. lifegain is a serious issue. I mean, WE can gain life, but no point in racing them when this is intended to outlast them. The card draw is very welcome!
SIDEBOARD
Despise
. I cannot afford Thoughtseize, however, removing planeswalkers is fantastic. This deck doesn't really like
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
or Elspeth, Sun's Champion very much.
Disdainful Stroke A counterspell for those midrange or later decks. Versatile to stop planeswalkers if we cant hit it with
Dispise
.
Doomwake Giant
AND IF ELSPETH GETS THROUGH or any other token based deck, like Goblin Rabblemaster we can eliminate them with the constellation trigger, which happens a lot. Good whip target too.
Murderous Cut
in case we need another.
reclaimation sage
for mirror matches or decks reliant on enchantments/artifacts.
Sagu Mauler
a hexproof trample guy with a big butt. Great reanimation, however can probably be morph cast.
Sultai Charm versatility is the key, the destruction is great and so is the extra
reclaimation sage
, but the best bit is probably the looting. If you draw a bomb, you can dump it then whip it.
Swan Song versatile counters. We can generally handle creatures, but say a board wipe or a targetted removal is pretty good to counter.
