Description

Welcome to a A budget version of Meren for those looking for some graveyard fun but have limited money to do so! This deck uses Meren as well as some other cards to cause some graveyard shenanigans as well as some control against your opponents.
Razaketh, the Foulblooded, This guy is ridiculous and well help us achieve the combo that we want or any other card for that matter!

Necrotic Ooze + Phyrexian Devourer + Triskelion. This is the main combo of the deck also known as our main wincon. As stated above we can use Razaketh to get a Buried Alive and then focus on getting the Ooze reanimated for the win. If not Razaketh well we still have some options like Diabolic Tutor, Dark Petition, Beseech the Queen. So we should be able to get to a wincon reliably. However if the above is a no fly zone then we default to Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and Phyrexian Devourer thus killing the board in one swail foop!

Now should that fail we turtle up and control the board. We will be using cards like Mercilless executioner, Fleshbag Marauder, as well as some creature STAX effects by abusing Dictate of Erebos, and also Butcher of Malakir. Thankfully with the amount of token generation we have this should always be interesting.

Strionic Resonator, Becuase abusing Meren's ability more than once is just too good

Eternal Witness, do you like getting tutors and various other cards that aren't creatures back to you hand repeatedly? Yeah, so do I!

Lastly let us look upon the glory that is Living Death because let's be honest, this card is a late game bomb that really shakes up the game!

Lastly I know the deck says it is over $130 but you can certainly get this deck for under $110 by using TCG. Please share your thoughts with me and maybe upvote the deck if you like it!

Upvoted for the great deck, and great price! I love budget commanders, and this one looks really good.

Here's my budget Zurgo commander deck if you want to check it out :)

I would say here is my budget Meren, but not so much.

Maybe you can still keep some of the upgrades within a budget, but here is my Meren deck.. and +1 for definitely trying to go budget with it.

Thanks for the comment! Truth be told though this deck isn't made for me. I made for anyone who wants to play Meren of Clan Nel Toth but can't afford a super powerful version. In real life I have a Meren deck, but that one is far from budget. She's great.

I gave you the upvote, and yea. Who needs expensive decks? 90% of my decks are under $75 and they work fine. I've even made a turn 2 win deck under $100 (Around $50). Mind you it is casual, but all it is is Laboratory Maniac, Dark Ritual and Demonic Consultation. (With demonic consultation, name a card that isn't in your library, e.g., Lava Axe and you exile your library) There are so many decks you can build under $50 that are just as good as decks that cost hundreds. (If you build around the right cards) My first EDH deck is under $40. (It's called "Artifucked" and it's on my profile If you want to check it out.) it's not that good, but I thought a $30 EDH deck was a cool idea in itself. Not to mention the fact that it really isn't a bad deck at all. Your deck is obviously better, as it has almost 5x the budget and yours is really well made.

First of all thanks for the comment and the upvote! I appreciate it. I would tend to agree budget decks can easily work well and still win against higher budget decks. Because anything can happen in a game of commander! I might have to look into some of your decks because I like seeing budget brews and how they playout. Again thanks for the comment and upvote and also the kind words! :)

Hey thanks! Sacrifice is a great card that a lot of people don't seem to know about. It's super useful too!

Have you seen Metamorphosis? Not as good, but a possible turn 3 8CMC(Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger)creature is strong.

I have indeed seen it. I don't use it because it's sorcery speed and it limits me to creatures. I also think it would incredibly difficult to get much use of it early game.

I've thought about it before and never really cared for it. But I appreciate the comment nonetheless! Thanks!

I have actually used that card before and never got more than a couple of uses out of it. Wasn't too impressed by it.
