Mono's White Devotion - MWD

Important to note, while there are many similar decks to mine on this site, none have been able to match my record. When if comes down to it the results are what matter.

This deck started off as just a concept to give my niece something to play. The original plan was to have Bow of Nylea out with as many First/Double Striker's out as possible. That idea fell aside when I realized the awesomeness that ensued when Archangel of Thune on the field and I was swinging for the bleachers.

This deck functions off several different combos, all of which stack exceptionally well in conjunction, ending with your opponent unable to stop the flow of creatures and the numbers created by their symmetry.

Path of Bravery is a powerful tool in this deck's arsenal. With the amount of creatures, you continue to gain life, and in many cases, pump your creatures up to the extra plus one in no time.

Celestial Flare and Brave the Elements aren't even fair in standard, nor are they in this deck.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride is another two off destroyer of wills in this deck, stacking +1/+1 on so many quick threats ending in the potential pop into kittens is above most players thresholds.

Lastly is Archangel of Thune; oh what a bitch this card proves to be in this deck!

  • Cast a spell; Extort with Blind Obedience Pop on some counters.
  • Declare attackers; Path of Bravery triggers, spreading a slue of counters.
  • First Strike damage; Next rounds on Fiendslayer Paladin ! Eating up that stack, yum, yum!
  • Normal Combat damage; Archangel of Thune bringing up the rear like a naughty girl doing some last minute damage!

So sexy it hurts!

Record;

  • 1st place Theros Game Day
  • 6x 1st place FNM
  • 5x 2nd place FNM
  • Never Kept track of the rest, but I've never been out of top 8.

Updates Add

Here are some results on a similar build with only a few additions; This build placed me second on a 5-2 night

deck-large:white-power-22-1

  • Round 1; Smashed Rakdos aggro 2-0
  • Round 1; Rolled a MUD build with white splash, Soldier of the Pantheon did some work for me, trumping the multicolor creatures. 2-0
  • ** Round 3;** Gruul deck. 1-2 Game one he scraped a victory by with a hot draw of a second Stormbreath Dragon, game two I crushed him by turn 6 with a Fiendslayer Paladin + Sunbond combo. I ended the game with something like 45 life. I lost the the final game to massive flooding on my side of the board. He even noted that a deck with half it's lands in hand or on the field is just trash luck.

The reason Brimaz is in the sideboard is I'd rather start the game strong with Fiendslayer Paladin and if the opponents deck isn't pure removal, I'll side him in for game 2/3. Sunbond was just something I wanted to play with, and while it is amazingly fun and funny to watch go off, it requires a Paladin in play or Heliod to be most effective. Otherwise it's just too easy to remove.

Some ideas include;

  • Splashing blue for 2 drop removal, 4 drop for hand feed (Bident or the new god), and sideboarding D-Spheres.
  • Splashing black for 2 drop removal, 4 drop lifegain (Whip), and either Obzedat or Blood Barron to be a prick.
  • Splashing green for Bow of Nylea, focusing more on first strike, and Nylea, God of the Hunt for trample making me a beastly aggro.
  • Splashing red for Boros Charm and Mizzium Mortars (literally destroys Blood Baron and Sormbreath), 4 drop Warleader's Helix.

Here is the version of the Blue splash; deck-large:white-power-23-1 I'll post results after this FNM if I can make it there.

Let me know. Give me some feedback guys; I love constructive criticism. Remember though! The 3 drop slot is currently the most important in Standard, it is when board presence is established and you see who is in control. So unless it's a power house, I won't be moving things into that slot.
