I like this deck. +1 from me, maybe you could run Butcher of Malakir or Agent of the Fates instead of Geth's Verdict you could even run Nim Deathmantle or Grave Betrayal ... just some ideas.

Other cards that work well in Mono-Black, Lashwrithe (and the Germ token is black so at minimum he's a 4/4 for 4), Gatekeeper of Malakir, Skinrender, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Victim of Night, Raven's Crime, Disfigure, Small Pox, Sign in Blood, Duress

I would condsider - 1x Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis - 1x Nightmare - 3x Unmake - 3x Blackmailand +1 Lashwrithe (A cheaper Nightmare and can be equipped to Nighthawk) +2 Sign in Blood (Card draw is always good) +2 Gatekeeper of Malakir (Functionally almost the same cost as Unmake for same purpose and is a creature) +3 Duress (Non-Land, Non-Creature...who cares...see ya counter spell or supreme verdict or sphinx's revelation...etc)

ken_dawg13 Thx for the tips! I think Lashwrithe and Gatekeeper of Malakir will be a good increment on my deck.

This deck would be bad ass enough even it were two grand. But the fact that this is a frackking budget deck. If I could + this I would. Fantastic job.

Thx Javak! ;)

No budget discard deck is complete without Augur of Skulls . Liliana's Caress allows you to keep the pressure up on your opponent with your discard.

Might be worth throwing The Rack or Shrieking Affliction in. Raven's Crime is a pretty decent card and you have uses for excess swamps later on and to keep it budget maybe some Duress .

OmniscientPotato and Swagrid the discard/destroy is a support strategy to annoy the opponent, so Im not focusing only on discarding (otherwise I should put a lot of enchantments for that). I would like to put a lot of cards, but its hard now to change even one. Do you have more specific replacement suggestion? What should I take off for puting these cards?

Could probably take -4 Edge of the Divinity for +4 Augur of Skulls , decent regenerating blocker and quickly removes cards from hand.

Divinity of Pride would be really good here

TucoBZ says... #14

Maybe -4 Diregraf Ghoul for +4 Ravenous Rats

TucoBZ I think on replacing the Diregraf Ghoul for Typhoid Rats , even on late game the deathtouch helps (I have a lot of discard spells and the specter).

i think 4x Inkmoth Nexus would work well here

DH_Cell says... #17

Hi NewFlesh, thx for ur comment! Its a very expensive card, and my creatures are weak but I pump them all with Lashwrithe and Undying Evil for rescuing, which I couldnt use on Inkmoth. This card ia better used on mono-green fast infect I guess.

Your deck is really land light and since Lashwrithe is at the top of your curve I would take out 2 of them for 2 more lands. Like NewFlesh said, Inkmoth Nexus is a must. Trust me, Inkmoth Nexus is a land most of the time and it does fine as a simple land but when you need to get one or two more poison in then it is SO GOOD. Also Undying Evil does work with Inkmoth Nexus , here is a link to it being discussed.

That being said, Inkmoth Nexus is kind of expensive for Budget decks so if you don't get it for money concerns then that is understandable but if you do get the cash then I would 100% recommend it.

Thx for the comment parasitian! I have to admit that inkmoth is a good card, but for a budget deck it is very expensive :(

Ive played a lot with this deck and I realized that the main star of the deck is Lashwrithe because of the fast equip, and Undying Evil does nothing special against most of the opponents.

I am havind hard time believing this is viable in a competitive modern environment. This deck seems to fumble to about every archetype played in the format. Pretty slow and all over the place, the 4x Wrench Mind as the only discard option? Wrench mind becomes useless lategame, because infect should not be having a lategame, unless you are running heavy control, which you do not seem to be running.

The creatures will fold to removal and you will be left without any guns left to fire, long before you are able to cash lashwrithe. Without a dedicated flyer Inkmoth Nexus and lack of trample they can chump your creatures all day long.

I would reconsider splashing Blue for manaleak, Blighted Agent , Mizzium Skin , Essence Scatter , Negate and or Psychic Strike .

OR splashing white for stuff like Lost Leonin , Faith's Shield , Oust , Condemn .

OR green for Rancor , Glistener Elf and a lot of pump spells

Hey brokensaint058 thx for ur feedback!

Im not using the competitive hub, but Im using budget (keep this on mind). I would love to have a lot of swords, inkmoth, Thoughtseize, Inquisition, Skithiryx and so on, but I dont have money enough for it :)

Yes, basically all the creatures are small, this is the reason Im running Predator's Gambit for fast damage and pump, Swiftfoot Boots for keeping them not being target and Lashwrithe as a game finisher.

Wrench Mind is one of the best discards on modern. I would love to run Thoughtseize and Inquisition too, but it is too expensive.

I dont need trample because Im expecting to have to way clear using 8x destroy and 4x discard, not considering the flying, protection and fear! (and the minimun +4+4 of Lashwrithe can clean the path too).

I could splash another color, but for that I need a lot of shock lands to be effective, and more money goes away....

May 19, 2014 2:29 p.m.

Yeah, the problem is budget and modern don't go hand in hand quite often. For a budget, non competitive deck, this is quite kudos though. Fun is where Magic works best at! I started my infect obsession one day where everyone just called infect a worthless mechanic, but I showed them! I had about every possible infect variant you can think of. Well I am trailing off. I would still recommend breaking the cash for a one-time investment of a playset of Inkmoth Nexus , because it makes a whopping difference in an infect deck, a lot of decks really as A wincon. ...yeah, that is just me being a very zealous Phyrexian player :D

Yes, I know, but actually this deck goes pretty well. Im wondering now to change 4x Wrench Mind for 4x Duress because I dont have first turn spell.

I love infect. I also have a mono-black deck with more display of creatures but with the same goal: remove what is most annoying, and poison your opponent. Have you thought about running Devour Flesh instead of Geth's Verdict ? Since you work with poison counters it doesnt matter the life gain, and you could use it to sacrifice your own creatures and gain some life if you are near death in a critical moment. +1 from me!

DH_Cell says... #25

Hey antonioelguay. Well I know this card and I agree with you, I have no reasons for keeping Geths instead of Devour. Most of the time I will use against an opponent but it can save the day. Thx! As soon as I get this card, I will update the deck.
