Black for white —Oct. 4, 2012

Like any good deck when you substitute black for white this went from good to just plain evil. i expect to update it soon with some additional removal and possibly some alternate cards to protect my guys once out there what with all the removal available in rtr. newho i changed the deck some -2Mikaeus, the Lunarch -2 Gavony Township, +4 Corpsejack Menace as well as subbing out the appropriate lands... should be fun.

I am loving the idea! I was trying to think of a way to Slumbering Dragon and it seems that you have found it! +1 from me!

If it fits in for you with the mana curve I suggest you should get one or two Ajani, Caller of the Pride

I am definately considering Ajani, Caller of the Pride the only difficulty is the 2 white but i will see what i can do.

I like the idea of this deck, but I'm not quite convinced white is needed. Birds of Paradise is a mana fixer, which wouldn't be needed with two colors. The only truly usefull white card is Oblivion Ring , and there is red removal, like Flames of the Firebrand .

loving the comments, thanks a bunch. I took this down to a local shop last night for a free tourney and placed 5th by breakers though i was tied for 3rd with a 3-1 record. i ended up putting in a Batterskull and had phenomenal results with it helping me win three different games. i may end up adding a second one also. i also added Triumph of Ferocity for card draw. keeping the Naturalize for the sideboard. the only loss came against a grixis control deck running several Ratchet Bomb which i found was devastating against this deck. i sideboarded in 4xOblivion Ring and 2x Naturalize to win game 2 but then got mana screwed in game 3 for my only loss. all in all though i had a great tourney.jackledaman i'm very happy with white for both Oblivion Ring ,Gavony Township and for Mikaeus, the Lunarch which combo'd awesome with my main threats Primordial Hydra and Slumbering Dragon not to mention Falkenrath Exterminator which doubles as a great red removal. Honestly the original deck did not include white but the splash has proven invaluable.

I think the splash for white is essential, Gavony Township and Mikaeus, the Lunarch have synergy with almost every single creature in the deck and Oblivion Ring takes care of planes walkers and the like. I can see Ratchet Bomb being a problem for the deck, if you have any Stony Silence it really hoses ratchet bomb, swords and other batterskulls

Nice call GobOnThese i will consider grabbing and sideboarding some of those Stony Silence imediately. and thanks for the agreement i too love the synergy the white splash gives...

I like this, and have a version myself that uses R/G Sleeper and testing at tourney play right now shows that its not quite as dangerous as the current top decks, but post rotation could be very big. Not to mention some changes from the RtR cards coming in.

+1 btw

I have a deck that has some similarities, though I didn't go quite as full tilt with the counters. However, both our decks seem to be greatly improved by a splash of white, while keeping constant pressure by always having a threat on the table. ( I love casting a 1/1 Hydra on turn 2... making an opponent use removal, and then casting a 2/2 Hydra next turn, or one of my planeswalkers... once they know the deck, they even struggle to remove the dragons as soon as they hit the table.)

I added Stuffy Doll as an alternate win condition, using Blasphemous Act for massive damage and a board clearing device. (Stuffy makes a great target for +1/+1 counters.)

I was considering a Mikaeus, the Lunarch , but since I couldn't get my hands on one, I went with Ajani, Caller of the Pride . The +1 goes well with the deck, and the -3 can be overpowered on a Hydra with 10+ counters on it. Now that Ajani is in there, I don't think I'd remove him for a Mikaeus... would probably just remove an card:Avacyn's Pilgrim

hmmm Rayenous i enjoy the idea of a stuffy doll as an alternate win con. and i definately agree Ajani, Caller of the Pride makes for a great card in the deck. with his +1 and -3 abilities both providing great synergy. I love the splash of white in this deck though i have to say even to myself that come RTR i will probably remove white for black. it just has some killer cards coming to it for this deck. Corpsejack Menace being the first to come to mind. can't wait that for sure anyways thanks for the comment.

There is so much power in this deck +1. I have been playing with a similar build with a few modifications.Predator Ooze because he builds counters very quickly by himself and the indestructible helps him avoid most removal. The other card I have been playing with is Reverberate to double up on an Increasing Savagery or Blessings of Nature for two extra mana or to take your opponents removal spells and send it back at them.
