Version 3 is up —March 18, 2017

Posted on my profile, and I want your opinions. This version is far more resilient, robust and has more survivability. The version with Gifted Aetherborn and Fatal Push is more aggressive, faster, mana-efficient, but much more frail. So I leave it up to my viewers: Midrange vs. Aggro?

One thing to note is that This is Sparta is much more consistent in a 3 color deck because Fetches. This doesn't mean it's not incredible; just something to remember.

Also Vampenguin (is that acceptable) is very solid and double black isn't too hard to achieve for this deck. I'm not sure I'd cut all the Nighthawks, as they're great too.

(Still salty that Olivia's still in this deck but eh)

The thing with Olivia is lately I'm reluctant to play her without captain out. I can't make her immune to This Is Sparta, I do what I can to avoid bolt.

So my initial thoughts: with this structure of the build I'm MUCH more aggressive, a lot like when I first built the deck (I had 12 1 mana creatures and 10 lords at one point). The good thing about vamps is thanks to Captain Runo Motherfluffing Stromkirk, I can assume a defensive stance and hold up a solid pressure game.

I like the look of the changes you have made... although, I will be replacing the Lacerators with Aetherborn, while keeping the Nighthawks-

On a different note, I am currently trying to build a deck which will be functional in a 4 team, 2 per team, battle royal. The other decks involved are very creature heavy, so I am trying to have my part of the removal included, along with creature abilities which affect EVERY opponent. I am confident that I will be able to crack Lily's ultimate, every time she is out, so that will be nice to debilitate whomever I choose. Plus, Kalitas turns into a POWERHOUSE zombie engine with that many others involved. Please take a look, if you'd like. I would appreciate any and all input.

hows it go in the world of vampires!

i would suggest that with 8 fetches and 5 real (swamp/mountain) targets dose this potential triggers/ land targets? As for me, i found myself either running more crypts or even the new land smodering marsh. i really like the cavern direction over the full 4 mutavault too. Also blood moon hurts too, in my play group at least.

on the other hand i do like inquisition personally just to gain information.

Would like input on Gifted Aetherborn over Vampire Nighthawk and Fatal Push, also known as This is Sparta over Terminate.

I feel like Gifted Aetherborn does enough against aggro decks. Flying is helpful but you probably want speed more.

Fatal Push is the bee's knees especially if you have a couple reliable sac outlets like Yahenni, Undying Partisan, Falkenrath Aristocrat, or Viscera Seer.

It also activates upon using a fetch. Note it says "permanent" and not "creature". I dunno, this version is way faster, but has fewer answers to bigger creatures and feels much less flavorful.

Well deathtouch on Gifted Aetherborn is a bit of tech against big creatures and Fatal Push can knock a lot off. You can feasibly go down to 2-3 FP and throw in a Terminate or two.

I like what I'm seeing but I have a few questions with the play style:How do you keep the juice going later in the game?Since you have four nocturnus, do you think 4 gifted aetherborn will work and lower mana curve? Is four lightning bolt required?Have you considered Kalastria Highborn? How do you beat Eldrazi/Tron?

I have made a Rakdos Vampires deck that I would very much like critiqued.

Vampires are so metal!!! +1 for having a black dahlia murder song title( don't know if any correlation).

Why the Stormkirk Nobles instead of something like Guul Draz Vampire or Pulse Tracker which are both black?

February 28, 2017 6:51 p.m.

Chandelier because he's Stromkirk Noble. Best 1 drop vampire in the game barring maybe Viscera Seer.

Even though it wouldn't work in practice, I like what Vampire Nocturnus can do with Painter's Servant. More for the lols.

Happymaster19 that was a valid sideboard during the Eldrazi invasion.

I feel like this deck doesn't have much late game, due to the fact that there is no card draw. Unless a turn five or less win is achievable, this deck would have to be lucky to beat Eldrazi Tron or Esper Control. I'm having similar problems with my vampire deck and want to add either sign in blood or phyrexian arena. Which would you choose and why? Also, I can't afford Liliana but I would like any suggestions on control deck hate besides Thoughtseize and such.

March 2, 2017 9:07 p.m.

Dark Confidant actually since I own 4. Turn 4-5 wins are actually easily doable.

March 3, 2017 2:43 a.m.

Both options are useful but at most I'd run only 1 arena (barring Bob). I feel like in a lot of ways hand disruption should take priority over draw. If you can fit both have at it. You also have Asylum Visitor for late game.

Bob works well with a more midrangey build. It holds it's cards better. Asylum Visitor is better in all in builds that have super cheap creatures and interaction.

I do like lowering the curve by cutting extra copies of top end legends. The three drop slot is a little light though and I notice you play even more creatures in your list than mine and your list values black for Nocturnus. Maybe Captivating Vampire as a one of? If not, maybe just good ol Vampire Nighthawk. Something to fill that three slot with more black.

Also, I don't know about your local meta but Blood Moon really does a number on all the midrange, Tron, Death's Shadow, and Eldrazi decks out there right now.
