We're all mad here. (Madness vampires, Modern SB)

Modern* Aggro BR (Rakdos) Budget Counters Vampires

Disciple_of_Mirko_Vosk

Sideboard

A simple Vampire aggro madness deck with tons of madness combos. Take note that it's average CMC is actually lower than the one showed, 8 3CMC spells are 1CMC with madness, making it a possible t4 victory killing machine with the right hand but a usual t5-t7 gg.

Olivia, Mobilized for War runs the deck. With Macabre Waltz playing with only one copy of her is possible, but I suggest 2-3. Also with Falkenrath Gorger (turn 1) and Call the Bloodline (turn 2) and Olivia, Mobilized for War (turn 3) victory is almost mandatory.

  • Call the Bloodline + Indulgent Aristocrat for +1/+1 counters and discard a card every turn.

  • Falkenrath Gorger is probably the most important card of the deck, assuring that every single vampire discarded for any reasons hits the battlefield instead of the graveyard. That's why most of my creatures cost 1.

  • If Lightning Axe is not enough, use it with Fiery Temper

  • Voldaren Pariah   is only to be casted with madness, but makes good discarding material anytime. Putting it in the graveyard early is a good way to be certain to dicard it later with Macabre Waltz

  • Harness the Storm is my late game option, when a clone of Lightning Axe or Alms of the Veins can change the game.

  • Alms of the Veins, Indulgent Aristocrat and Vampire Cutthroat are usually enough lifegain to not have any good reasons to not attack every turn. At turn(mana) 4 you get empty handed so after you have 2-5 turns to take control After the deck gets too slow and there is many ways to deal with an army of vampire weenies. Sure Azylum Visitor and Tormenting Voice can help, but they are not enough to provide victory in long games

The sideboard is able to turn the block built deck to a slightly more aggro modern deck for just 15$ you just have to take out 2x Voldaren Pariah   , 2x Harness the Storm 2x Stensia Masquerade and any 4 instants\sorceries.

  • Stromkirk Captain is better than Stensia Masquerade, can also have madness with Falkenrath Gorger.

  • Stromkirk Noble usually dies early or wins as a 7/7 on turn 5.

  • Bloodline Keeper   is just the best. Free 2/2 flyers are a good start. The tokens can attack or, in late game(turn 5-7) they get sacrified for Indulgent Aristocrat. But when the card flips to Lord of Lineage  (during your opponent's turn) it's victory on the next attack 99%* of the time.

  • I'm also sure that trading an extra Call the Bloodline for a swamp is a good deal, trust me, I won many Times with only 2 lands in play, also drawing a land after t4 is only slowing you down.

  • Nahiri's Wrath is important against deck with strong planeswalkers, enables madness on multiple cards for more low cost direct damage but is often a dead weight in the hand until t6 or early discarding material. That's why it's been moved to the sideboard. Sorcery speed was meh too.

  • Harness the Storm is only there since april '17 and will most likely be placed in another deck sooner or later but 4mana for 6 damage (Madness Fiery Temper/ Alms of the Vein + full cost cemetary clone) is not a bad deal at all. Cloning anything else can be hard because of the mendatory discarding, but not impossible with the right setting. Ex: t6 casting Lighning Axe & Fiery Temper(madness) for 2 then clone both for 4, discarding a land or anything for the second Lightning Axe. Destroying up to 4 creatures, or even a 16/16. Of course this is possible on t4, but it's almost certain that 1 of the Spells I play Will already be played 3 times before t6 or 2 times and the other copy is somewhere at the bottom of the library, making Harness the Storm a real help.
