In the spirit of our late hero Harambe, I created a jungle themed pauper deck with some of the best apes in Pauper!

This is a gruul aggro/midrange deck with discard and graveyard interactions. Basking Rootwalla can be discarded with Wild Mongrel for very efficient casting. Along with pumping Wild Mongrel with its discarding ability, Elephant Guide helps as a pump enchantment aura to deal with big creature threats. Terramorphic Expanse, Keldon Marauders, Firebolt and Mogg Fanatic go into the graveyard quickly, allowing you to cast Hooting Mandrills with a low cast from its delve ability with ease. You really don't need more than 4 lands out during a game, in a sense you can discard the remaining lands to Wild Mongrel or recast the one of Flame Jab from the graveyard. River Boa is main board as a unblockable swinger against the popular top-tier blue decks in the pauper meta game. An addition of the great ability of islandwalk on River Boa, it makes as an amazing tank blocker against big creature decks like Tron with River Boa regeneration ability. Remaining is Kird Ape, Lightning Bolt and Blastoderm which are all amazing value cards for the deck.

Sideboard: Electrickery can be switched in against goblins/weenies/elves/faeries. Lightning Axe can be sided against Ulamog's Crusher or Gurmag Angler or any other big creature threats. Young Wolf can be sided as a better card than Basking Rootwalla against mono black control. Pyroblast is a no brainer with blue decks. The one of Feed the Clan helps stay alive when faced against mono red.

My feelings on playing R/G Madness:

Since this deck was created, I have seen many suggestions of adding cards with the madness mechanic such as Arrogant Wurm and Fiery Temper. I have play tested this deck, and though I love tapping into a whole different way of playing the deck, I find the deck very underwhelming against most high level deck match ups. Given the right opening hand, I believe the madness deck to do a lot better in tempo than this deck. However play testing the Madness version, I found myself holding a lot of dead cards in a lot of games. Without Wild Mongrel constantly on the board, you're fishing for the next Tormenting Voice or Faithless Looting. I also found Gurmag Angler to be a huge threat with not enough high-power cards to chump block or kill. It might be all well possible that the R/G madness version is better; but keeping with the theme I've fallen in love with the deck over the years of what it is. Feel free to switch around the cards and see what version you enjoy playing more :)
