The second I saw this commander I knew I had to make a deck either around it, or have it as a companion. Though I currently own no decks within the burn archetype, I have always been an aggro player at my heart. Sadly the odds were against me and I soon discarded the idea of having Obosh as a companion since I would miss all the two mana ramp, whether it be in the form of a Arcane Signet or a Farseek, it still felt really bad. I had started brewing an obosh deck with Obosh as the commander when user: JumboCommander's video came out and convinced me otherwise. , I highly recommend seeing it as it gave me a lot of inspiration and made this deck a reality. I was further convinced by the idea of this deck when I realized, that X spells, such as Fireball had an odd converted mana cost in the deck though can even (pun intended) be cast on my even-numbered turns, using all my available mana.
Even though I had seen user: JumboCommander's video and gotten inspiration, the idea of missing my two mana rocks in a Rakdos deck was still punishing. I realized that if I wanted to make this deck function well I would need to include . 3 mana rocks are generally inefficient, as they are prone to removal (generally not targeted, probably Vandalblast), and you will be set back greatly if something like that happens. Land Ramp, however is much more efficient as most playgroups don't have an Armageddon, cards like Cultivate even give you a land to hand ensuring you hit your next land drop. Reyhan also synergizes really well with cards like Lifeblood Hydra which as mentioned earlier can be cast on turn 6, and has double damage with Obosh out. Reyhan is certainly an odd fella.
I apologize for the terrible pun, but nevertheless, let me answer your question. I had lots of help building this deck and some of it was somewhat pessimistic, I will clear this up right now, the people that gave critical help (or complaints) gave the most help in the end as they made me analyze my choices. Some of them told me that it wasn’t worth it as I’m giving up some of the best damage doublers such as Furnace of Wrath for a one time effect. After testing this deck out on Cockatrice and MTGO myself, having a consistent five drop every game is well worth it. Especially if that 5 drop is an asymmetrical damage doubler on (almost) everything you have.

However its not all Rainbows and Sunshine with this Companion, and aside from two mana ramp there are some format staples we’re missing out on. After I had made most of the deck and still had a few cards to spare I remembered that Obosh isn’t my commander, and even though I have other damage doublers in the deck, I need to find a way to protect it. I quickly added in Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots into the deck and while testing, someone pointed out that Obosh couldn’t be my companion as I had just strapped the boots onto a Malignus and they had no blockers (though I’m still not sure if they would have said that if they weren’t staring at lethal). My opponent came to show me that there are a lot of format staples that I will have to find replacements for. I was fortunate enough to see that Asceticism and Whispersilk Cloak were good secondary replacements.

With this restriction I’m also limited to fewer hydras, (I don’t mean hydras that don’t have X in their mana cost like Ironscale Hydra), and that was one of the main reasons I chose this commander pairing. You can’t find any of the even costed hydras such as Steelbane Hydra here, though there are still a good amount and a Scryfall search showed that there are 9 creatures that I can run with an odd cmc. Some are left out such as Gyrus, Waker of Corpses

So how does this deck play? Its an aggro deck that bashes without Obosh, when we draw hand of Kalonian Hydra among other things that have synergies with counters we play Reyhan, Last of the Abzan first. When we draw Fireball we can go Vial Smasher the Fierce and Obosh, the Preypiercer
