The point of this is to create a field where you are the one who has the control, or as much control as Mardu can establish. You have Assemble the Legion and Cathars Crusade to buff your creatures, and Marchesa to deter anyone from becoming the Monarch. The Planeswalkers add a bit more synergy to this build, and some of the enhancements add an air of control.
