This is a fairly simple and straight forward Pauper control deck, use kill spells and counters to keep your opponent from doing anything, use your creatures to block and draw cards.
I use Sinuous Vermin as my (sometimes) finisher. I like it better than Gurmag Angler because it can come down early if i need it to, it has evasion when it's monstrous, and I can recur it with Unearth.
Monstrous gives the rats a physdo-flash, where you can play them on one turn, and make them big on an end step. It can be advantageous to also hold up a counterspell when you make them monstrous. When you put the monstrous ability on stack a lightening bolt, or a disfigure can kill the 2/2.
The instant speed ability on the Rat supports generally using instants as threats. Which is why Diabolic Edict is used over Chainer's Edict.
Likewise, Rewind allows us to counter their spells, and then play kill spells or make Sinuous Vermin monstrous on an end step.
There are two Unearth and only 10 creatures. Every creature costs 3 or less Mana with that in mind. This incentives the deck to be low to the ground.
It currently has decent matchups against most decks, although probably losing matchups against the tier 1 decks.
