Deck :

Haunt the battlefield with spirits using their special abilities to tap, flash and tempo the game. Disruptive flicker-effect cards Essence Flux and Release to the Wind give the deck some depth and fun lines of play to devise crushing tempo and card advantage strategies.

Finisher:

• Elder Deep-Fiend : already a presence of its own with a great cast trigger, this creature gets out of control when you use it with Release to the Wind . Having flash and three ways to cast this card (natural casting cost, emerge and Release to the Wind ) makes this fiend a crippling finisher for the deck.

With Verity Circle on the battlefield, the cards below provide you with a steady stream of card draw:

Spirit-dragon Ugin, the Ineffable adds value to the deck in a few ways:

• Static ability: Elder Deep-Fiend costs less to cast. This includes the Emerge cost, as emerge cards are still colorless if you pay the emerge cost.

• +1: Exile the top card of your library face down and look at it. Create a colorless 2/2 Spirit creature token (has synergy with Supreme Phantom ). When that token leaves the battlefield, put the exiled card into your hand (card draw).

• -3: Destroy target permanent that's one or more colors (removal).

Time of Ice : a great tempo card that can seriously disrupt your opponents creature-based game plan for 3 turns.

• ,: Tap target creature an opponent controls. It doesn’t untap during its controller’s untap step for as long as you control Time of Ice. (with Verity Circle on the battlefield, you also draw a card.)
• : Return all tapped creatures to their owners’ hands. (this can be especially challenging for your opponent as it typically makes them hesitant to tap-and-attack with any creatures on their turn just before this lore counter triggers on your next upkeep.)
