Maybeboard

Hello and Welcome. You may be asking what is Vengifact? Well Vengifact is a neat little home brew I whipped up as my first step into the Modern format. It isn't meant to be overly competitive by any means. I just want to have someone say "Hey that's a pretty neat idea and it's a cool deck". As far as similarities go this is however heavily inspired by the DredgeVine as I love graveyard based decks and Vengevine is my all time favorite card.

Too many people in my area take our Modern FNM's far too seriously and it discourages newer players from stepping into the format. So I'm building something that's new and (or atleast new in my LGS's meta) that's far more fun and casual to play against.

So enough of my ranting we're all here for the deck list and how I went about deciding on what to throw into this.

Creatures:

VengevineThe decks largest staple and most responsible for multiple turn 3 and 4 wins. (We'll get to the T2 win later)

Demigod of RevengeThis big guy can easily throw a game way into your favor if things are looking grim. His ability is amazing even if he gets countered so it's not a bad decision to throw one out in a Control or Delver match-up.

Glissa, the TraitorShe's won me a few games as most opponents forget that she has FS and DT. Her ability is also very relevant to this decks main fuel source, Artifacts. However most of the time she is sided out for bad match-ups as she impacts our board and graveyard the least.

OrnithopterAs well as a combo piece for the T2 win he's also an amazing blocker against flyers. 0cmc is a steal especially if you need to squeeze in that last creature to trigger Vengevine

MemniteAgain, another combo piece to the T2 win and another all round chump blocker for creatures I don't want to get hit by.

Satyr WayfinderJust another chump blocker who also throws cards into My graveyard. has saved me plenty of times and a vengevine on T2 is also very common.

Note: Down the track Glissa may be switched out for Golgari Grave-Troll or Tarmogoyf if I happen to get another two.

Spells:

Faithless Looting Great card over all to dig for our combo piece and to keep in the occurrence of a bad hand. Also throws a little into the graveyard and can help delve for Tasigur, the Golden Fang.

Grisly SalvageThe premiere graveyard filler for this deck. It's brilliant for picking out another creature to trigger Vengevines ability or grab a land for that desperate mana fixing.

TerminateThis card may need to be upgraded to Abrupt Decay and I will once I acquire them. However for now it's fine for getting rid of pesky creatures.

Life from the LoamAs a 1-of this card is great for that extra dredge when we need it or for the mana fixing.

Shrapnel BlastThis card is a great way to burn your opponents or to burn of a big fatty who's causing you trouble. The ability also works quite well with Glissa if you kill something with the burn.

Sideboard:

Please Note: This will be updated once I figure out an appropriate sideboard for my meta as well as the current meta of modern as a whole. Only My current meta will be listed in the Sideboard and the Overall modern meta will be listed down here. I may change this down the track.

Well you made it, welcome to the turn 2 win. Here I'll describe how it can go about so you can succeed. However I have not completed this in an actual game of magic but the chance for it to happen is there. So without further ado here is My turn 2 win.

Turn 1:

Mountain or Fetch for any red source you can.

Faithless Looting

Draw 2, Discard 2 Vengevine's

Cast 2 Memnites or Ornithopters

Swing for 8 with the Vengevine's

Pass

T2:

Land of your choice

Swing with the 2 Vengevine for another 8

Shrapnel Blast one of the Memnites for an additional 5 damage

Hopefully by this point your opponent has fetched for some form of shock land and has taken a sufficient amount of damage for you to finish them off with the final shrapnel blast. With a total of 21 points of damage over the 2 turns this should be enough for you to win the game.

"Note" with fetches and shock lands being quite popular in modern it's quite possible that 21 points of damage will be more than enough to defeat your opponent.

Descriptions will be updated to match deck list after play testing and additional feedback is applied. If there's any suggestions or card submissions I'm all ears for hearing your thoughts. Cheers.
