Nice deck, seems a little slow maybe add in some one or two drops. I have a similar deck just geared a little more towards aggro you should take a look, it's called Zombie Obliterator it might give you a idea or two. But you have a pretty neat deck +1.

Thanks! I will look into it, the Vault SkirgeMTG Card: Vault Skirges are usually 1 drops, sometimes 2 drops and DespiseMTG Card: Despise works as a great 1 drop to see what the opponent has turn one and get rid of something big.

i really like the curve of this deck, and the simple mana base makes me as giddy as a schoolgirl. truly you are a skilled deckbuilder. no, not deckbuilder, deck ARTIST!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Mirran CrusaderMTG Card: Mirran Crusader has pro-black, you can't kill it with a Black Sun's ZenithMTG Card: Black Sun's Zenith, true? I just saw that you have BSZ as a killspell for the Crusader in your description and got curious.

March 13, 2012 7:24 p.m.

Swift123 says... #5

Black Sun's ZenithMTG Card: Black Sun's Zenith does not target a specific creature so it will kill Mirran CrusaderMTG Card: Mirran Crusader even when he is pro black. Its like if i played Day of JudgmentMTG Card: Day of Judgment that would also kill Phyrexian CrusaderMTG Card: Phyrexian Crusader despite him being pro white.

March 14, 2012 5:19 p.m.

Swift123 says... #6

And the -1/-1 counters themselves are not black, the spell is. Since it doesn't target the counters still go on him.

I have a very similar deck, but by judging by your huge description, it seems you know what you are doing but i might as well recommend Phyrexian MetamorphMTG Card: Phyrexian Metamorph I am personally not a huge fan of him, but i have had dozens of people recommend him to me for my mono black deck.

March 14, 2012 5:53 p.m.

Swift123 says... #8

He is good for getting legendary creatures especially hexproof ones. I haven't really had many problems with them. usually just because i have bigger creatures out like the obliterator.

Swift123 thanks for clearing that up =)

Very neat deck bro...i like the SpellskiteMTG Card: Spellskite stall, but you may have problems against most wolf run decks...

Btw if you want a challenge play it against this Virtue of sorin

March 17, 2012 8:34 p.m.

Swift123 says... #11

Actually, it does great against wolf run ramp decks! obliterator stalls anything that wants to ramp because of extra damage to obliterator and vault skirge's with lashwriths effectively deal with inkmoth. What ive found this deck sometimes struggles with is token decks can be to fast. Usually i just need to be smart about mulligans and do some sideboarding for stuff like ratchet bomb.

March 17, 2012 8:49 p.m.

wildstallion says... #12

Yeah....that totally makes sense i guess...knowing when to mulligan is the hardest part of magic...lol

This deck is really solid...what about green white humans with Angelic DestinyMTG Card: Angelic Destiny honestly that deck just scares me lol, but i was lucky yesterday, and didn't have to play it.

March 17, 2012 9:01 p.m.

Swift123 says... #13

I'll try it out against the sorin token deck and see how it does! I've got a sorin token deck and it usually is about 50/50 with that deck. Yours is probably better though, so it should be more of a match. :)

March 17, 2012 9:02 p.m.

Swift123 says... #14

Usually its not a problem with kill spells and if im really lucky i can despise it out of them turn 1 :) but if they get 2 creatures with angelic destiny it can often be too much, usually then it is a race with me with an obliterator with a lashwrite attached attacking at the same time.

Side in Geth's VerdictMTG Card: Geth's Verdict or Tribute to HungerMTG Card: Tribute to Hunger for Mirrans.

wildstallion says... #16

yeah Mirran CrusaderMTG Card: Mirran Crusader just is sooooo nasty with a destiny...i think just about anything "pro" are the best cards in the game.

I Like this deck quite a bit so +1 from me. I do have a thing I would like to share though. As much as I used to love Royal Assassin, he isn't all that great anymore in today's standard, so I would like to share my input on swapping him out with something slightly better such as Skirsdag High PriestMTG Card: Skirsdag High Priest, He is a decent card if you can trigger morbid. I would like you to check out my deck for a Mono Black Morbid Destroy, you may find an idea or two, if not I'm always open for constructive criticism. Thanks.

March 19, 2012 4:43 a.m.

Swift123 says... #18

Thanks for the input and I agree, This was working better before dark ascension came out, Tragic SlipMTG Card: Tragic Slip kills him often now. Thing was i needed a 3 drop. I will probably replace them with geraf's messenger not sure how well that will work yet though, need to play test it.

March 19, 2012 11:52 a.m.

irishsk8er69 says... #19

You could always throw in Phyrexian CrusaderMTG Card: Phyrexian Crusader, not only as a 3 CMC creature, but also can be used as a chump block against red and white? Just a thought

March 19, 2012 6:46 p.m.

Swift123 says... #20

I've tried, he does not progress the deck at all, and he doesn't stop the crusader or fliers. the messenger helps put more pressure on earlier with damage. If only he weren't infect.

Inquisitor's FlailMTG Card: Inquisitor's Flail. Watch your opponents concede.

March 22, 2012 1:01 a.m.

Victim of NightMTG Card: Victim of Night should be replaced by Go for the ThroatMTG Card: Go for the Throat seeing that theres not really any good artifact decks floating around right now

March 23, 2012 12:56 a.m.

Swift123 says... #25

In my meta there are 3 tempered steel decks still played and no tribal deck except aggro zombie, but maybe. I'll think about it.

March 23, 2012 1:05 a.m.

irishsk8er69 says... #26

I think Go for the ThroatMTG Card: Go for the Throat main board is probably one of the best spot-removal spells out there simply because it gets rid if anything except for Phyrexian MetamorphMTG Card: Phyrexian Metamorph and Wurmcoil EngineMTG Card: Wurmcoil Engine. Except Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel decks of course.

March 23, 2012 2:18 a.m.

Swift123 says... #27

question for everybody, I'm thinking about taking out the geralf's messengers for two more kill spells. Thoughts? They would probably be go for the throat. I just don't think geralf's messenger progresses the deck at all.

March 23, 2012 11:32 a.m.

CuzImDK says... #28

hey buddy. take out a swamp and add in Inkmoth NexusMTG Card: Inkmoth Nexus the secondary win con is all this deck needs. late game, throw on a LashwritheMTG Card: Lashwrithe, swing for the win

March 25, 2012 2:48 p.m.

Swift123 says... #29

Thats a good point, how many do you think should be added, 3 or 4?

March 26, 2012 4:01 a.m.

CuzImDK says... #30

hey man, glad u asked. i think because of ur 4 LashwritheMTG Card: Lashwrithe, only 1 or 2 Inkmoth NexusMTG Card: Inkmoth Nexus is needed. That way you dont lose much of your bonus from the equipment.

March 26, 2012 4:03 a.m.

I like the earlier suggestion of Inquisitor's FlailMTG Card: Inquisitor's Flail. It's cheap, and effective on the Obliterator. Another option to deter opponent's trying to remove it is Livewire LashMTG Card: Livewire Lash.

April 4, 2012 12:56 a.m.

NM on the Livewire Lash...

I don't know if you'd go for this, but why not sideboard 2 Surgical ExtractionMTG Card: Surgical Extraction's and place in 2 Unburial RitesMTG Card: Unburial Rites? And play 2 Isolated ChapelMTG Card: Isolated Chapel's in place of 2 swamps. That's just in case your field gets wiped by DoJ or something and you can bring Oblitorator back? Just a quick thought.

April 4, 2012 8:38 p.m.

Swift123 says... #34

nah, all you have to do is play smart, if you have an obliterator on the field with a lashwrite you don't need to play another. Play based on what they have on the board, I would have rather have the surgicals hurt both their deck/hand and see what deck they as fast as possible so i can know what to play and what to sideboard for future games.

April 4, 2012 8:56 p.m.

Sobieski says... #35

I think u should put back in Geralf's MessengerMTG Card: Geralf's Messenger, it's so resistant to wrath and removal, and is a auto include in almost any mono black deck. If not, since this is quite a control deck, Liliana of the VeilMTG Card: Liliana of the Veil seems good, for both the -2 and the +1.

Agent_Elrond says... #36

Why not replace Black Sun's Zenith with a hard sweeper like Damnation? Also, for token/weenie decks, Drown in Sorrow in the side could be nice.

I ran my deck extremely similar to this for a long time until I played a more focused 8-rack deck, I really recommend the change. phyrexian obliterator is way too nice.
