Hype for Commander 2018 may have nose-dived, but the Varina hype lives on.

Go as wide as possible, as fast as possible to churn through the deck looking to either win through creature damage or find this combination:

• Wayward Servant or Metallic Mimic (naming Zombie)
• Arcane Adaptation (naming Zombie)
• Liliana, Untouched by Death
• Walking Ballista (in hand, graveyard, or battlefield)

Cast Liliana last of these spells (ideally, with counterspell backup), and, holding priority, use her ultimate. Cast Walking Ballista (now a Zombie, thanks to Arcane Adaptation) from the graveyard on X = 0. If Wayward Servant is on the battlefield, you drain the table for 1 and Walking Ballista dies as a state-based action, free to be cast again from your graveyard. If Metallic Mimic is on the battlefield, Walking Ballista will enter with a +1/+1 counter to be thrown at an opponent and this same loop can be repeated until the whole table is dead.

Four card combos aren’t known for their reliability, but this is far more palatable in a deck that’s planning on looting for 10 or more every turn. Regardless, Wayward Servant, Metallic Mimic, and Liliana, Untouched by Death are all fantastic includes on their own, and Walking Ballista is seldom ever bad. The floor on Arcane Adaptation is "spend 3 mana, do nothing" but the ceiling is winning the game on the spot.
