MTG Deck Builder

Variation of my Grixis deck

My first EDH decked designed to use the colors and cards that appeal to me most.

This deck is broken up into three main areas: Beastly Creatures, Turn/Draw Manipulation, and Reanimation.

Maybeboard — Aug. 25, 2012

Please see the maybeboard as I have listed some cards that could be added or substituted in for better effect, such as creating a better draw engine.

Double Negative isn't that useful in commander I'd say (I'd jist put in a different counterspell), and Endless Ranks of the Dead is pretty underpowered here too perhaps. It's slow and the power of its effect isn't that strong.

Some of my decks might give you some ideas of cards you might want to run. Also, Stranglehold is a great card :-)

Here are my decks. Also I +1'd you! +1 me if you like the deck :-)

Breath of Malfegor is pretty bad in edh Endless Ranks of the Dead isn't that great in here because you have a couple zombies but nothing to really abuse it with also i would change the general to someone else since with him you don't have to many things to unearth Garza Zol, Plague Queen doesn't cost that much and is pretty amazing beatstick general i also kinda wish there was more draw power in the deck Parallel Thoughts is also pretty beast in edh

look into some nonbasic lands you don't have to get super expensive ones but even things like Evolving Wilds helps fix mana better

The three that jump out at me are Double Negative , Blightning , and Recoil .

I'm sure the all basics are just placeholders. You can try this site if you do need manabase help:

Also, look into Sundial of the Infinite . It turns Unearth into straight reanimation. Also, Havengul Lich is great in any deck that pays attention to the graveyard.

I realized last night that Endless Ranks of the Dead wasn't going to do me much good, unlike in my zombies deck. I just really like the card haha

And I never knew about Sundial of the Infinite . Would I have to activate that only once to remove the "end of turn" effect from the stack to keep my creatures? Or at every turn?

Also, I had hoped to combine cards like Breath of Malfegor and Blightning with my copy spells (Twincast , Reverberate , and Chandra) to make them a little more effectice. Plus, if I can get card:Liliana's Caress out, that turns Blightning into a 14 damage spell plus 4 cards are gone. Is that still kinda bad? Works fine in normal magic formats but idk how it will translate here.

Lastly, I totally meant to put Havengul Lich in here. Originally, I was going to make this a Dralnu, Lich Lord and combine the two but after reading how bad Dralnu is in multiplayer EDH, I changed my mind.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Double Negative really depends on his meta i was running it in my grixis edh with great success I still think you can do more with your mana than Breath of Malfegor 5 dmg (or 10 if copied) to your opps just doesn't seem worth it and the end result is some players aggitated at you for smacking them for a lil bit of damage if you are wanting to burn players Earthquake also acts like a board wipe too

Double Negative is neat, but wouldn't Mindbreak Trap just be better? Even for its mana cost, it's still "Counter everything bad on the stack."

Your land-base could certainly use some work. Try Dragonskull Summit , Drowned Catacomb , and Sulfur Falls as starters. Then you could also add Temple of the False God , Desolate Lighthouse and Nephalia Drownyard (with Unearth? Awesome...), Creeping Tar Pit , Lavaclaw Reaches , Crumbling Necropolis , Command Tower , Cascade Bluffs , Sunken Ruins , etc.

y u no Sol Ring ? I am disappoint.

I don't own many mana flux lands, so I put in basics as placeholders for now. And no Sol Ring because Sol Ring is expensive. I only started playing magic this summer and I have to build my decks first then order all my cards so I'm on budget. This deck is already pushing it.

... You could always just proxy cards, unless your playgroup is a bunch of spikes and won't let you.
