Hello, and welcome to Professor Vannifar's lesson on combos, competitive edh, and most importantly evolution. You will like this course if: You like winning on turn 4, sometimes on turn 3, love infinite combos, love crazy convoluted combos, and fun to watch competitive decks, then this course is for you. If you said no to any of these things, there are other commanders in the competitive and maximum power tier that might be for you. Everyone else who is still here, if you all would take your seats, pull out a notebook and we can begin the lecture.

This deck is basically a giant Birthing Pod style of deck with Prime Speaker Vannifar at the helm of it. The main goal of the deck is to get her out as soon as possible with any of our various one drops and pod our creatures and keep untapping vannifar to assemble our combo pieces, and then win.
Your turn 1 is typically going to be: play a land, play a one drop. Your turn 2 can vary from time to time, wheather you play another mana dork or rock, but you want to set up to play Prime Speaker Vannifar next turn. Then, on turn 3 you want to play Prime Speaker Vannifar and you may not be able to do anything else after that, which is fine. Keep in mind that this is the optimal line of play, and you may not be able to do this every time, because this assumes no one will stop you, which since your are at a competitive table, won't happen too often. You have plenty of counterspells and instant-speed responses for little mana, you just want to set up your combo as fast as possible.
Once you have set up with a one drop creature, Prime Speaker Vannifar that has haste/no summon sickness, and some mana, you are able to dive into one of the two major line combos of the deck. A choice, the Protean Hulk combo or the Deadeye Navigator combo
For this line of combo, you need to have a one drop creature, Prime Speaker Vannifar that isnt summoning sick, and then either 4 mana, or access to haste or other untaps. You will pod off your one drop to Prime Speaker Vannifar and find Scryb Ranger and use her untap ability on Prime Speaker Vannifar . Pod off the Scryb Ranger . You either have 4 mana or haste/an untap and if you have 4 mana, find Trophy Mage and search for Thousand-Year Elixir and play it and use it's untap ability on Prime Speaker Vannifar . If you have a haste/untap then go and find Deceiver Exarch . Once you get to this point, it becomes the same from here on out. Pod off your 3 drop to go and find Fatestitcher or Breaching Hippocamp and then use the untap on Prime Speaker Vannifar . pod off your 4-drop and go and find Tidewater Minion using your untap or haste thing now. Pod off your Tidewater Minion to search for Great Oak Guardian . Pod off your 6-drop to find Protean Hulk and then use your untap on Vannifar and pod off your Protean Hulk to find Archetype of Endurance . You will use the hulk's death trigger to go and find Sage of Hours , Ezuri, Claw of Progress and your 4 0-drops. If you have some in your hand that is okay, you can just play them now. Because Ezuri, Claw of Progress gives you experience counters from your five creatures entering, you put the counters during combat on the Sage of Hours then remove them to take an extra turn. Repeat for infinite Turns.
For this line you need, a one drop creature, Prime Speaker Vannifar that is not summoning sick, and 4 mana, and not have any of the creatures necessary to the combo in your hand. Pod your one drop off to Prime Speaker Vannifar to find Scryb Ranger and use her untap ability on Prime Speaker Vannifar . Pod off the Scryb Ranger to find Trophy Mage and she lets you find Thousand-Year Elixir . Cast Thousand-Year Elixir and use its untap on Prime Speaker Vannifar . pod off the Trophy Mage to find Fatestitcher and use his untap on Prime Speaker Vannifar . pod off the Fatestitcher to find Peregrine Drake and use his ability to untap your lands. unearth Fatestitcher and use his untap on Prime Speaker Vannifar . pod off Peregrine Drake to find Deadeye Navigator and bond to Prime Speaker Vannifar . Use Deadeye Navigator to flicker Prime Speaker Vannifar . pod off the Fatestitcher to find Body Double and have it enter as Peregrine Drake as well as pair it with Deadeye Navigator . Use Deadeye Navigator and the Body Double as a copy of Peregrine Drake to make infinite mana.
There are a couple of ways to win the game from there, as you can infinitely flicker Deadeye Navigator and anything it is bonded to, meaning Eternal Witness Spellseeker and Trophy Mage each can keep giving us stuff. Your main win-con as funny as it is, is to just smack the opponents with the endurance pig himself Archetype of Endurance . You can do this when you have assembled infinite turns.
This is to just talk about the rest of the deck including removal, mana rocks and the few other cards that are not creatures. We run and insane amount of counterspells and removal spells for either 0, or 1 mana each which means we have plenty of disruption for the other decks at the table. I included only a couple of mana rocks, because mana dorks are better in this case, because we can pod them off to Prime Speaker Vannifar . We have a couple of haste-enablers besides Thousand-Year Elixir , such as Concordant Crossroads and Instill Energy as well as additonal untaps such as Wirewood Lodge , Minamo, School at Water's Edge and Kiora's Follower . The cool part about this deck is that all the combos I mentioned can be modified to the situation like, you don't have to have Scryb Ranger , you just need a two drop but Scryb Ranger lets you win faster. Green Sun's Zenith can be used turn 1 after you play a green source to find Dryad Arbor , not just any mana dork. You can pod into Spellseeker to find the instant you need in a pinch. Only when you play the deck a lot can you find all of the seemingly infinite amount of combos. Another cool mini-combo if you have the untaps for it, is to tutor for Dramatic Reversal with Spellseeker and pod her off to find Elite Arcanist to make infinite mana if you can produce 3 or more mana each time.
This deck is my baby. My pride and joy. I will update it ever time new things come out and I will gladly accept suggestions and answer card choice questions. Thank you very much for taking the time to look at this deck and if you liked it, Please make sure to upvote! The professor will appreciate it. If you made it through this course, you are now a fully-fledged evolutionist and you graduate! That's all for now. Class Dismissed!
