The idea behind this deck is simple. Get out as many vampire tokens as possible and start stealing your opponents creatures with Captivating Vampire.
I run a playset of Legion's Landing
to guarantee it in my opening hands, and on turn 2 playing two copies to get three tokens on the field is a solid strategy to get Legion's Landing
to flip, it also helps in case my opponent runs enchantment removal.
I run a playset of Duress and Divest because hand knowledge and discard problem cards for one mana is pretty good.
Adanto Vanguard is a solid turn 2 play if my opponent is playing aggro where i can use it to take out their X/1 creature with life that I will easily gain back as the game progresses. Against decks that run a lot of removal Legion Lieutenant is better due to my opponent having to target it, and potentially with a leyline or two out to protect my tokens from early removal such as Sweltering Suns
So far I have no reliable way to make enough tokens to trigger Captivating Vampire turn three, so I run Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle for the extra tokens and Yahenni, Undying Partisan to keep up the aggro. I try to save Queen's Commission for when Anointed Procession is online however most of the time I will just play it turn 3.
I don't usually end up playing Captivating Vampire until I can be sure that tapping five vampires doesn't immediately lose me the game, I also wait to use it on my opponents turn rather than my own so that whatever I steal will untap either on their turn or mine.
Which speaking of, by turn 4-5 you will be playing your Leyline of the Meek that you didn't draw and Anointed Procession. You will eventually just overwhelm your opponent with numbers, lifegain and big tokens.
Windbrisk Heights is a bit of an oddball, but I use it as a sort of card storage. If you get an Anointed Procession and trigger it's second ability not only are you getting a discounted card but it speeds up your play, sure there will be times when you see four swamps, but then those are four wasted draws, right?
