After a few years of watching, I've decided to join the EDH community! This is the first true EDH deck I've built (i.e. I'm actually building this to own)! The commander will be the one and only Muldrotha, the Gravetide .

I plan to make refine this primer at some point soon as well, so please stay tuned.

The Primer

The Gameplan + Commander Analysis

This is a Sultai deck, meaning that our aim is to prolong the game enough to outvalue our opponents through our sheer value engines. Our commander is herself an excellent way to do both, as we can power through most boardwipes. We also have a "backup" commander in Meren of Clan Nel Toth . Although Meren can only recur creatures, we can recur them for free, which is important. Now, Muldrotha is quite expensive at 6 mana, so we need a sizable ramp package to help offset that. Then, we will need tutors to find our combo pieces as efficiently as possible. Finally, we have numerous interactive pieces to keep ourselves in the game.

The Ramp Package

• Birds of Paradise , Deathrite Shaman , Llanowar Elves , and Sylvan Caryatid are our traditional mana dorks. They give us extra mana to play with, and a couple of them have other upsides as well.

• Coiling Oracle , Sakura-Tribe Elder , Solemn Simulacrum , Wayfarer's Bauble , and Burgeoning give us extra lands on the battlefield. Many of these can also be recurred with our commander.

• We also have a decent amount of mana rocks as well, the most notable of which are Expedition Map and Lion's Eye Diamond . The Map , while not actually giving us extra mana immediately, gives us our utility lands. The LED , with our commander, is essentially a Black Lotus . As I will cover later, it is also a key part of our combos.
