I am a big fan of UWR midrange decks and the colours UWR in general. For a change, I thought I would venture away a little bit from the conventional midrange or control shell, and try a more proactive aggro list.

The deck takes advantage of hasty threats and aims to keep your opponent under pressure and off tempo as much as possible. In testing, Mantis Rider and Lightning Angel proved themselves to be insanely powerful. They apply pressure immediately, are hard to block, and play both offense and defense incredibly well. Mutagenic Growth is here to help with the age-old "dies to bolt" problem with Mantis Rider , while giving our creatures a boost. Since almost all of our creatures have haste, you usually never waste those 2 points of damage when you're using Mutagenic Growth as bolt insurance. Vapor Snag feels great in this deck, its usually an absurd tempo play against your opponent, but its also worth mentioning that since our threats have haste, we can save them with snag and still be ready to swing in on the next turn (or it can reset our kitchen finks, which can be cool too).

Why am I not running Geist of Saint Traft , you ask? In my oppinion, geist is awesome, but not proactive enough for this shell, and would much rather have Mantis Rider come in and swing imediately. That being said, putting in 2 to replace Kitchen Finks could undoubtedly be a good option, and probably just a matter of preference or meta. What about Path to Exile? Once again a fantastic card for this deck's colours, but it has been moved to the sideboard in favor of Vapor Snag, as vapor snag serves better for tempo since you're not giving the opponent an extra land, and instead setting them back by encouraging them to re-cast their big threat.
