Sideboard

Updated take on one of MTGGoldfish's latest instant deck techs Approach of The Cats. If you haven't yet, give it a watch!

The basic idea is pretty straight forward. We are trying to play uW midrange with cats for the early/midgame as deterrents to the opposing board while also gaining you some life for the late game. We effectively net 20 cats thanks to embalm/eternalize game one and so much more after sideboard (more later). Your opponents will typically think you are on some cat brew (which you are) and that is sometimes enough to get you game one. On the other hand, Approach of the Second Sun will sometimes just come out of nowhere and get you a gg. Champion of Wits and Torrential Gearhulk are in here as honorary cats. Champ gets you filtering and you aren't ever worried about discarding cats since you can get them back. Snaphulk is great utility with our instants and, again, no one really expects him. Search for Azcanta   is great because it fills our yard with cats thanks to it's pseudo scry while helping us dig for that second approach in the late game. The rest is setup similar to UW approach in that we filter with Search for Azcanta  , blow up their things with Fumigates and Settle the Wreckage. Supreme Will is in here as an Impulse 9 times out of 10 but can sometimes be a good save against opposing board wipes when your cats are online or an opposing finisher when the opponent thinks we are on classic midrange. It's also nice because we need more Gearhulk targets for the late game and can get you closer to approach if you choose that line.

Game 2 is where it gets fun. Depending on the matchup, you can leave in approach and just go FTW because some decks just can't handle that bright light. In other matchups (black anything usually) you will side it out (sweet tech against Duress / Lost Legacy) and go for the token kill with your semi-transformational side board. Sides are flexing right now because I'm trying to find the weakest points which currently appears to be The Scarab God and sometimes heavy control. Help in the sideboard department would be super appreciated! I'm currently testing Hour of Revelation as a hedge against Abzan tokens since that mixed with Vraska shenanigans is a big issue. Gideon's Intervention is nice against The Scarab God decks and Negates should really be in any deck playing blue.

So now you know, this deck plays midrange cats with a gain 7 life spell that can steal wins. Go wide from the side with Anointed Procession and Sunscourge Champion or do your thing and stomp over with cats. Let me know your thoughts, I love jank so all is welcome!

Meh, don't really even want to post this one but ok. 2-3 overall taking down mono black aggro and UB Favorable Pirates pretty easily. We lost to RG Dinos twice thanks to their overwhelming trample and Temur Scarab God due to mana screw mostly.... All in all it is super fun to play but definitely needs tweaks. I will say though, Gideon's Intervention definitely did some work in the dino and Scarab God matchup but was definitely too slow. Why can't we have NEVERMORE back again D:

I think this can definitely pose a threat to the meta if tuned so I will continue to try for funsies but I think I'll stick to standard UW approach and focus on one tactic at a time. Thoughts?

Match 1: 2-0 against Mono black aggro Match 2: 0-2 RG Dinos Match 3: 0-2 RG Dinos again.. Match 4: 1-2 Temur Scarab God Match 5: 2-0 Favorable Pirates
