This is my second deck. You can find my first one here. Explosion refers to both Shrapnel Blast and what the deck is supposed to do after a few turns. Please critique

You should be able to get the deck for about $60, less if you don't care about the 4 pain lands which are about $20. You can also replace the Monastery Swiftspears with Elusive Spellfists




Strategies/synergies:

  • Initial windup of around 2-3 turns then end the game within 2-4 more

  • Given the initial windup, can quickly explode and go hard aggressive, but also has good blockers and can burn to kill threats

  • Scuttling Doom Engine + Shrapnel Blast or Shrapnel Blast + any of the other artifacts really

  • Generator Servant not necessary but can make a lot happen in a single turn

  • Good amount of flying, trample, haste, double strike to end the game before too long

  • Doesn't rely completely on either burn or creatures but has a decent amount of both

  • Ensoul Artifact has lots of targets, can get flying from Ornithopter or indestructible from Darksteel Citadel

  • Deck benefits a lot from prowess since there's already a good amount of low cmc spells and Generator Servant, so Monastery Swiftspear and Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest are good supplements for aggressive play

  • Illusory Angel can come into play relatively easily with Generator Servant, Ornithopter, Monastery Swiftspear, Messenger's Speed, and lots of 2 cmc spells


    Possible cons:

  • Possible weak early game/against hard aggro

  • Possibly weak to bad draws (ex. too many Ornithopters, too many high CMC without any low CMC, too much burn/buffs without enough creatures) and no spells to help with draw

  • Nothing that gives +1/+1 which could be useful for double strike and flyers

  • Possibly a little short on lands

  • No life gain

  • No enchantment or creature removal

  • No counterspells except for sideboard


    Sideboard thoughts:

  • Counter spells because why not I'm playing blue

  • Anticipate in case of opponent stalling, might as well get card advantage

  • Anger of the Gods for boardclear, could potentially have problems with tokens without it, not sure


    Thoughts:

  • Might switch out the Fleetfeather Sandals for Ghostfire Blade s, may find something else to remove for 4 of them. It helps prevent Ornithopter from being a dead draw and is a cheaper cast for Illusory Angel Need to playtest them more
  • Might remove 1 Scuttling Doom Engine for 1 more Ornithopter if I fit Ghostfire Blade in
