- 3x Baleful Strix
- 4x Deathrite Shaman
- 1x Leovold, Emissary of Trest
- 2x Snapcaster Mage
- 4x Stoneforge Mystic
- 1x True-Name Nemesis
This deck is so well built I don't know if I can't bring any good advice, but I'll try and focus only in your sideboard accoring with your local meta.So for storm, I would add Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and DazeFor elves Night of Souls' Betrayal. I know there is a better card, but I don't remember the name.As for the other decks, I think you're good to go.
Very good deck. +1.

Since your deck is very blue heavy I'd recommend Tropical Island instead of bayou. Also since you have three baleful strix I'd recommend academy ruins.

Thanks for the suggestions! The thing about strix is that it's a fine topdeck because it cantrips, but it's not really a card I really want to topdeck. It's really strong vs delver variants and eldrazi, but it's best on turn 2 or 3 so I don't really have time to recycle it. However, strix is still a fine cantrip and many opponents will try to kill my equipments, so having a way to recycle equipments and gain a lot of late game value might be worth playing academy ruins for. I've never really considered it. The mana in this deck is super color saturated and even running Wasteland is really hard, so I'll have to see if I can handle the colorless land, which will really be the deciding factor.
I think bayou is better since it gets both deathrite shaman colors, so even though trop might be better for 4c fixing, the only time I need green in game 1 is for drs, and post-board there isn't too much green.
Thanks for the advice! I'll have to see if the colorless land from academy ruins isn't too difficult.

Deathblade without lily? Come on, Son. Your list seems okay aside from that. I would remove Baleful and add 2 lily and 1 more ponder.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems a little narrow to me. I can't think of many 2 toughness tokens, and Illness in the Ranks will be more efficient in most cases. However, I can name a token type with Engineered Plague to take care of most tokens and hit tribal decks like elves at the same time, which is probably my best option.

Engineered plague is really good, but not as a 3 of. Much better to run either Toxic Deluge for fast decks, like elves, which is becoming less popular, and goblins. Youre also able to cast Golgari Charm, which is very powerful vs all token and rapid decks, and also hits enchantments. Just remember...use before casting nemesis, lol. Love stoneblade / deathblade. Also in semi bant builds, I like Geist of Saint Traft, which is really hard to deal with...especially with a sword. Icky.

Oh yeah, and it's a seriously good idea to sb Sword of Fire and Ice, which has great utility, and usually good to sb Sword of Feast and Famine, bc mana advantage is seriously good in control shells...and bc goyf exists.

Thanks! I didn't have Toxic Deluge or Golgari Charm or Supreme Verdict because they are 2 sided. Deathblade is in the weird spot where it's only doing as good as its board state, so killing my own board is usually hard on my deck. It's justified if I can rebuild on the next turn quickly or if the opponent is hurt more. Additionally, deathblade prefers permanent-based disruption for the same reason.
Given that, Engineered Plague lines up well with the goals of deathblade, yet I just question if it's powerful enough. I think you're right that I should diversify. I have a Supreme Verdict and a Golgari Charm already, which lines up well.
I'll test and find out. Thanks!

If you want to add room for Academy Ruins, which is a fantastic suggestion actually, then consider Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as well. It turns your colorless lands into Swamps as well as late game fetches.

Due to the already aggressive manabase, I don't think I'm going to add Academy Ruins. In order to add Academy Ruins, there would have to be additional motivation for it such as mainboard Engineered Explosives. The colorless land is just too difficult for fixing in a 4 color deck as well. In a non-Deathrite Shaman Stoneblade deck I would probably pull some strings to add it, but in here the benefit just isn't worth the risk in my opinion.
Thanks for the suggestion though!

Mind telling me the difference between death and Stoneblade? I'm always told Stoneblade is better but idk the difference
November 3, 2016 8:52 p.m.
Deathblade is Stoneblade but with Deathrite Shaman and some green cards like Abrupt Decay. It is more like a midrange deck and less like a control deck. Stoneblade, on the other hand, can run cards like Supreme Verdict, Council's Judgment, and Engineered Explosives in the mainboard.
Deathblade has been much more popular recently, but I don't know which is better. I only play Legacy at my LGS with proxies, so I play Deathblade because I find it to be a ton of fun. I'm 20 cards away from having the deck, but it's an expensive 20 cards.

Thanks so much :D then I'd be into deathblade. For some reason I thought one used true name nemesis and the other didn't and that was the main dif

Pretty sure this gets countered hard by Blood Moon
November 21, 2016 5:34 p.m.
Pretty hard. With a basic Swamp and Deathrite Shaman I can cast Abrupt Decay to deal with the moon. Spell Pierce and Thoughtseize are also good at dealing with moon before it falls. But otherwise, yeah moon gets me pretty hard, especially in game 1. Fortunately it isn't super widespread in Legacy.
