The plane of Ishmordika was once a bright and shining crossroads between the various planes of the multiverse, a hub from which planewalker's and adventurers alike could cross safely from one plane to another, but as millenia have past, it has become little more than a shell of it's former glory.

The plane Ishmordika is now an all but dead universe. All that remains is a tenacious civilization of Humans based on the planet Terra. This swelling civilization, starving for resources, has stretched it's arms across the vasts spaces of Ishmordika, spreading to the stars and beyond, having turned to industry and the mining of other planets to sustain itself.

It is only now that these intergalactic travelers have discovered a small iced over planet barely able to sustain life known as Leiven, harsh but filled with vast resources. As the mining of the planet began though, their minds began to unravel. Expecting to find little more than raw minerals, what the mine workers discovered was far more sinister; buried under Leiven's surface was a built up and concentrated darkness. crypts and artifacts filled with black speech dotted the terrain under the snow. After the madness set in, and the resulting violence could no longer be controlled, the mining operation was ended, and the settlers quickly fled. But on the frozen sheets of Leiven some hid away and stayed behind.

Having refused to leave, these remaining humans were drawn to the vile artifacts and crypts that stirred under the snow. They worshipped these artifacts, prayed to them and preformed rituals. From the various planes these cultists summoned dark creatures and spirits to fill themselves with power, but their true goal has yet to rear it's ugly head. Determined to awaken the plane of Ishmordika, the cultists use the power of their enslaved extra-planer creatures to continue to try and revive their god. With his rebirth, Ishmordika, it is said, will awaken and once again spread it's tendrils across the multiverse, uniting the multiverse as one. But one peice is missing, one peice left to find, what will be found beneath the ice?

Sorin Markov must now Travel to Ishmordika to put a stop to this vile ritual, but will Sorin survive? or will he become a mere pawn of the church?

Combos:

(Rings of Brighthearth + Basalt Monolith): Infinite Colorless Mana. To those who don't understand how this works, the Rings copy the Monolith's untap ability; you can tap it again for mana before the second copy of the untap ability resolves. You rinse and repeat resulting in Infinite Colorless Mana.

(Eon Hub + Infernal Darkness): Lock non-black non-artifact decks out of colored mana indefinitely. It's notably useless against this deck : p

(Eon Hub + Glacial Chasm): You can't take damage. Be careful, this wall can be torn down with the right removal spells, and you can still lose life, just not via damage.

(Mirri the Cursed + Hatred): Swing and then if your opponent declares no blockers cast Hatred to set your commander damage to 21. If you're playing against control this can be risky.

(Wound Reflection + Sorin Markov): Kill an opponent with over 20 life.

(Wound Reflection + Quietus Spike + Creature with evasion): Swing for lethal damage. Mirri the Cursed is an excellent choice for equipping Quietus Spike.

(Rings of Brighthearth + Basalt Monolith + Exsanguinate): Win.

(Rings of Brighthearth + Basalt Monolith + Profane Command): Kill a player and get any creature from your graveyard, destroy any creature, or give all of your creatures evasion.

(Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion): Win. For those of you who don't know how this works, you shoot off Triskelion's +1/+1 counters at your opponents, but have him save two bullets for himself (He'll be a 2/2 thanks to Mikaeus), have him kill himself and return because of undying with 4 +1/+1 counters, fire them all off, have him kill himself and return with 4 again. Just rinse and repeat until your opponents are dead. Undying relies on whether or not the target creature had a +1/+1 count on it when it died, Triskelion pulls all of it's +1/+1 counters off before it dies.

(Dark Depths + Vampire Hexmage): Marit Lage as early as turn 3, turn 2 if you throw in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

(Cavern of Souls + Myojin of Night's Reach): An anti control combo, your opponent can't counter Myojin, and cannot destroy him until he's already wiped their hand. Once their hand is wiped you can play your big creatures without fear of counterspells.

Strong Synergies:

Mirri the Cursed + Quietus Spike: Mirri has evasion allowing her to land hits with Quietus Spike, she also gains deathstrike allowing her to kill almost any creature that blocks her.

Empyrial Plate + Mirri the Cursed: gives a bad hand a purpose: accelerating your commander damage.

Suggestions

Updates Add

Added more disruption and control in hopes of combating other control decks.

Bloodghast Added for it's recursion. Will work with well with cards that require creature sacrifice, but also acts as a creature that can get through counterspells.

Reassembling Skeleton Works the same as Bloodghast but instead of relying on land drops, he only needs two mana to get back up, meaning Braids' upkeep can be paid for with only two mana.

Braids, Cabal Minion a solid control card, slows the opponents game down as they have to deal with losing a card every turn. The downside is you need a recursion card or a token generator to keep her running or she'll eat your board too.

Grave Titan Lacks evasion but makes up for it by populating the board with tokens that can be used as sac fodder, or can overwhelm the opponents blockers.

Nether Traitor takes a bit more work to cause its recursion, but it has haste and evasion making it valuable when equipped with a dangerous piece of equipment.

Mind Slash allows for recurring disruption, very helpful against control decks when paired with Reassembling Skeleton or Bloodghast

Crucible of Worlds allows me recur important utility lands if they are destroyed, but it also does a number of other important things. I can destroy my own cavern of souls, play it from the graveyard, and change it's creature type. I can recur fetch lands to make my land drops every turn. And I can recur strip mine for repetitive land destruction.

Verdant Catacombs / Bloodstained Mire / Polluted Delta Marsh Flats all are legal even though im only playing mono black. I replaced 4 of my swamps with these cards in order to combo with Crucible of Worlds.

Strip Mine for obvious reasons this combos with Crucible of Worlds, but it also combos together with Rings of Brighthearth to reduce your opponents mana base to rubble.

Leyline of the Void Simply combos with the next card on this list, but if it's in your opening hand it's free.

Helm of Obedience mainly serves as a combo piece with Leyline of the Void, but can also be used to build your board when you've got the mana.
