Heartless summoning actually seems dangerous here

yes and no. melira does not combo with heartless summonings because it doesnt place counters. A heartless summoning infect deck however may be something to look into...

It's not useful with creatures that don't get the full benefit of it, Phyrexian Crusader for example

However, Hand of the Praetors and Phyrexian Vatmother do work well with it

I was hoping to counter the -1-1 of heartless summoning with Hand of the Praetors and Gavony Township since they both add +1+1.

True, that would work. But, keep in mind that Heartless Summoning may not be as useful as you think in a deck where the most expensive creature only costs 4 mana anyways. I see where you were going with it though.

Maybe replace HS with Blight Mamba? Thats a great infect card.

Or Leeching Bite? That card helps infect decks punch through creatures nicely and infect quicker.

Or, of course, Plague Stinger.

Any ideas to help improve the deck?

Rot Wolf is great in infect decks to keep card draw and even better with Leeching Bite, Hand of the Praetors, and Gavony Township.

Drop Melira, Sylvok Outcast for 4xNecropede. Actually I'm a bit confused as to why Glissa, the Traitor is in here at all without any artifacts. I would add Corpse Cur and Phyrexian Juggernaut as well.

The Gavony Township isn't a bad idea, but too many of your cards take 2 of a color to cast and without any ramp, fetch, etc, that's a problem. I'd say drop white and put in Beast Within for spot removal or to kill your own Heartless Summoning.

Only run 3 of Heartless Summoning btw. It becomes a dead card as soon as you have 1. Same with Glissa.

Also, -3 Doom Blade, +1Tribute to Hunger, +2Go for the Throat.

Replace Cystbearer with Rot Wolf. Draw is very important with Heartless Summoning.

Add 2xOverrun as a finisher.

I liked the Heartless Summoning, made the Glissa, Necropede, Hand of the Praetors combo very potent

I was able to beat my friends Blue Green control deck with this set up, which is oddly lucky.

Just wanted to be sure you realized that Glissa, the Traitor + Heartless Summoning + Necropede lets you clear the board of 1 drops because it costs 0 and goes back into your hand after you cast it. Similar combo with Perilous Myr. I think the Necropede is much better than Leeching Bite because it also lets you ping for poison damage with Hand of the Praetors.

And Heartless Summoning and Plague Stinger do not mix. If you want flying, take Flesh-Eater Imp. He doesn't die and he can eat everyone up to finish the game.
