Uncle Istvan is coming to to visit an he's been VERY lonely...

I prioritized flavor over function and went with both were I could. I tried to include alot of sac outlets so you can benefit from having the Homicidal Seclusion. Nemisis Mask and either equipping a gorgon flail or having death pits of rath out is a must, having those out with Istvan and the homocidal seclusion alone is 4-5 creatures off the field a turn.

Also, Corpse Hauler looks like Istvan

SaucyLemons says... #1

I would replace Corpse Hauler with Viscera Seer in this deck.

actually, never mind that last comment of mine, I saw the resemblance of Corpse Hauler and Uncle Istvan. Cool deck +1

love it! +1 Homicidal Seclusion looks awesome on Uncle Istvan

Fucking RAD! I dig your deck, man. I am going to build this deck and ax my buddies up. +1 for me.

This is a budget deck too! :D

Love it. Uncle Istvan is one of my favorite black cards just for the flavor, and I keep not being able to justify having him in my decks. You seem to have found a workaround!

I actually like this deck. Good work on it. Might actually make a deck like this one myself if you do not mind.

I'd recommend Dimir House Guard

March 6, 2014 1:54 p.m.

Avacity says... #13

I'd recommend getting some hexproof enchantments in order to keep him safe from targeted kill spells.

March 8, 2014 2:07 a.m.

Inquisitor's Flail is super-effective with Uncle Istvan because his ability causes it to lose it's drawback. +1 for Uncle Istvan nostalgia!

March 8, 2014 3:38 a.m.

Mindcrank says... #15

the only issues with that is with death pits of rath or gorgon flail, all you need is one point of damage to destroy a creature. it doesn't quite add anything flavor or mechanic wise.

fleshwrither just looks cooler and Puts him onto the battlefield

looks sweet! could probably work it in somewhere, maybe over a corpse hauler or two.

go for it bro.

I have to recommend Butcher's Cleaver and perhaps he could find a Sharpened Pitchfork or similar farm instruments.

+1 for everyone's favorite uncle

Might I suggest Bonesplitter instead of Darksteel Axe ?

March 12, 2014 1:22 a.m.

Sadistic Glee is bad without any protection. It just gives 2-for-1 for your opponent. Shuko is better than Bonesaw.

So did you ever think about a Wrong Turn backwoods psycho type deck with Village Cannibals

March 17, 2014 11:06 p.m.

junglist says... #22

Casey4321 I was just thinking about adding that here to Uncle Istvan's Visit. I found with this deck that I had a problem (on most shuffles) with not enough creatures to get any blockers in play fast enough, Village Cannibals has a cheap mana cost and fits the theme pretty nicely. Maybe even add some more human cards to support Village Cannibals ?

March 19, 2014 2:44 p.m.

junglist says... #23

Also, I also had some problems with flyers against this deck (esp. with indestructible enchantments), they often ran a perfect game against me. So... I hate to add any flying creatures (wanting to keep with the slasher-killer theme of the deck), but I wonder what enchantments, etc. might be out there to combat flyers... with indestructible?

Don't get me wrong, love the deck, super-fun +1

March 19, 2014 3:04 p.m.

Mindcrank says... #24

well, thats what the murders and maybe devour flesh's are for. I guess You can favor some more Devour flesh's in if the indestructibles are really a problem. The core idea as above stated is to force them to block and then they die due to death pits or gorgon flail.

As long as the fliers don't have haste, you should be able to attack and murder the the fliers before they can attack, unless they came out first of course. Sadly I just can't think of any real and flavorful answers to indestructible, but I guess an unkillable robot would stop a murder hobo in their tracks.

Mindcrank says... #25

Nemesis Trap actually came up during a continued search which fits well flavor wise, Sever the Bloodline is a bit of a stretch but also loosely fits the theme.

Sorry to not get back to you until now. Skirsdag High Priest, Skirsdag Flayer, Victim of Night so on...Very culty.

March 21, 2014 7:39 p.m.

I dig this! Love some Uncle Istvan nostalgia!

Basilisk Collar > Gorgon Flail . I concur with the Inquisitor's Flail suggestion.

Trepanation Blade could be useful, as could Sylvok Lifestaff , Quietus Spike , Sword of Vengeance , Sword of Feast and Famine ...

March 26, 2014 4:38 a.m.

Gunpla says... #29

might i suggest a Banshee's Blade just for shits and grins

March 29, 2014 9:37 p.m.

Flareking99 says... #30

To deal with fliers, you could add Nemesis Mask .

June 5, 2014 5:08 p.m.

sonnet666 says... #31

For everyone saying Inquisitor's Flail , keep in mind that you still need to assign lethal damage to a blocking creature in order to deal damage to the next creature in blocking order, even if it's just 1 point of DT damage, and that that damage assignment occurs before the replacement effect from Inquisitor's Flail doubles the damage Uncle Istvan is dealing, which basically makes it useless as a DT / Nemesis Mask doubler. It does however function beautifully with Lifelink.

June 5, 2014 5:18 p.m.

Mindcrank says... #32

It's already in there mate :/

Thanks mate, I think I mentioned it before but yeah, inquisitors flail is damn near useless I'm finally being able to swing through for lethal, but the point is to murder as many creatures as possible and be vorthos as fuck.

Nah, but Unlcer istvan's creature type is uncle istvan, and he can be blocked AND axe murder the fuck outta shit. That'd be a different type of voltron.

June 20, 2014 4:06 a.m.

Hey, can I axe you a question?

July 8, 2014 10:41 p.m.

metalevolence says... #38

Smoldering Butcher and Abattoir Ghoul both have murdery vibes and seem decently synrgetic. You only get 4 istvans; probably doesn't hurt to have a couple extra potential voltrons. I'm also surprised you don't have more things to tutor uncles.

Also please toss a couple of thosr farm implement cards in for ultimate flavor

July 12, 2014 7:52 a.m.

Grimjerr says... #39

I will make this deck but with a play set of Darksteel Myr or Phylactery Lich instead Uncle Istvan :P

August 16, 2014 4:08 a.m.

nighthawk101 says... #40

Bonesplitter just isn't worth it. Maybe Mask of Avacyn or Swiftfoot Boots to give hexproof?

Sadistic Sacrament could be replaced with Eternal Thirst .

Love this deck, +1.

Oops, Sadistic Glee .

September 8, 2014 12:05 p.m.

But Uncle Istvan isn't a vampire. He's a murder hobo. And he already has homicidal seclusion

September 8, 2014 12:09 p.m.

nighthawk101 says... #43

...true, I didn't really think about flavor :(

One thing that may work is No Mercy , since you want to be swinging in with Ivstan. It also fits with his ax murderer personality.

September 9, 2014 6:59 a.m.

Gyoko-hime says... #44

+1, VERY impressive. Simply oozes flavor. I can practically see the murderous old hermit biding his time in his cabin in the swamps, just waiting for some poor bastard to wander into his territory and get a faceful of axe.
