Ugin and the Eldrazi

Oathbreaker

candythief

This is my first finished Oathbreaker deck, and it was built on somewhat of a budget. Should I end up buying this deck, upgrades will likely be made as time goes on.

This deck is generally quite simple. Ramp as fast as you can until you can start playing big Eldrazi creatures. Ugin helps a lot by reducing the cost of any colorless spells you cast, which namely includes Eldrazi. Ugin can also create tokens, potentially draw us cards, and can help us remove some pesky threats on the board such as other commanders. His signature spell, All Is Dust , is there to control the board. So if the other players happened to run away with the game in the early turns while you're still ramping up to your Eldrazi, you can easily clean the slate. Or if your board is full of heavy-hitting Eldrazi who are being blocked by pesky little creatures, you can wipe the board of any opposing threats and possibly even take the game in the process. There are a few utility cards scattered throughout the deck, just in case having Ugin and his signature spell together isn't enough to keep the rest of the table in the spot that you need it to be in order to rampage with your Eldrazi.
Although the game plan for this deck is quite simple, there are some cute synergies about the deck that can give you a little edge over the other players.

It That Betrays + All Is Dust

This synergy is likely the most deadly in the entire deck, as playing It That Betrays can easily lead into your winning of the game in the next few turns. When It That Betrays is out, his ability allows us to gain control of creatures sacrificed by opponents. All Is Dust forces opponents to sacrifice their colored permanents, essentially giving you every single colored permanent on the board.

If it wasn't apparent already: this deck could be much, much better. Many of the high cost Eldrazi Titans are absent from this deck, and including any of them could quite easily boost the power level of this deck immensely. However, I would prefer to playtest this deck more before sinking in the extra money that these Titans will end up costing me. Another thing to note is that the mana curve of this deck is far from perfect. I could have spent more time getting a more defined curve, but that felt unnecessary when the big point of this deck is to constantly be casting 7+ drops with the mana we ramp up to. Sure, the curve has it's ups and downs, but the likelyhood that you will cast everything on curve when there are so many costly Eldrazi in this deck is very unlikely.
