[U/B] Faeries - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Modern Competitive Control Faeries Tribal UB (Dimir)

Hello Magicians.

This is my version of Fae that I have been building for one year now.

I know that faeries are quite weak for the current meta. Even though it is quite effective against any control or midrange lists, it is weak against hard aggro (Hollow one, Jund, Human, and the newcommer: spirit). But my problem is that I love playing faeries. So I've been trying to adapt it to such matchups.

Let's say it at first: the old lists of fae are now uneffective and needed a refresh to have one chance to win. Bitterblossom T2 is not that strong anymore when facing two 4/4 t1. So I tried more removals, lowering the curve, damnations main deck... it was still too weak and I often died on bitterblossom or could'n cast it because of low LP in the early game.

And Lo! Here is what I tried: I saw that Tasigur (I had one) could make the difference. I added then one Kalitas main deck, it made me win some games just by himself. I called them the big daddies, and they were so effective that I decided to add one angler. And lo! He made me win some games too. The big daddies became a winning condition. So I decided to add the second angler, to keep 2 vendilion clique, 2 mistbind and see what happens when I try to be more agressive than defensive. And it worked. The little Fae now have the Big Daddies to protect them: they do their job well.

And those mischievious faeries have their little tricks too:

  • You can animate your mutavault with it's own mana to add one fae for spellstutter sprite.
  • With a total of 5 mana and a mutavault you can champion your mistbind clique on it.
  • Cryptic command: bounce your spellstutter!
  • Mutavault can feed you kalitas or add one zombie for liliana's emblem.
