FNM Friday the 13th —Oct. 13, 2017

Overall good showing for the deck with a 3-1 record.

First round was (bizarrely) a mirror-match. The opponent was very focused on Mechanized Production and Revel in Riches which meant my combo was inherently faster. I only need 5 treasure to go off after all. Easy 2-0 win.

Lost the second round to UW Approach. It's a tough matchup and I probably punted game 3.

Third round vs. UW Anointed Procession Token list. This deck was very bizarre and the matchup was the most memorable. He didn't interact with me at all Game 1 so I got to play Master and shoot him for 20 damage to win. Game 2 he resolved Oketra's Monument and I didn't have an answer for all the tokens so I died. Game 3 took FOREVER, thanks to his Vizier of Many Faces we both had Gonti and Herald in play and were stealing each others spells. The board state was gridlocked for a long time, and he gained enough life to be at a comfortable 50. I finally drew The Scarab God and reanimated a Marionette Master as a 4/4 creating 6 servos (stole his Anointed Procession). With my ample treasure, and Herald to sacrifice my servos, I was able to deal 50 damage easy. Win 2-1.

Match four was against G/R Dinosaurs. Not only did my opponent stumble on lands both games, but also I had an answer for every creature they played. Winning game 1 by using Scarab God to steal multiple Regisaur Alpha and winning game 2 with Marionette damage.

Overall I thought my deck was impressive, certainly more than the pile of jank I had pegged it for. That said, I'd still like to try w33man's list out at another FNM.

Thanks for the suggestions Argy! Deck adjusted accordingly. I think I better pick up the missing Tezzerte quickly as his price has more than doubled since Ixalan hit. I think this deck has a lot of promise. All that this deck wants is for Master to resolve because if it does the game is over and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to hope for that even in a very aggressive matchup. Here's hoping nobody resolves Lost Legacy.
