THIS * IS * A * FORMAT

For the beginning of this casual variant of EDH, see the MTGSalvation thread on it at this URL:

http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/202216-two-general-edh

Two Generals is a format of EDH that allows you to have two commanders. Say what? It basically gives all Legendary Creatures Partner (you know, the mechanic from C16).

So, you can do some pretty fun stuff. You can combine Ghoulcaller Gisa + Lim-Dul the Necromancer for weird zombie fun. You could have Gahiji, Honored One + Edric, Spymaster of Trest to reward your opponents for hitting each other in a janky Pillow Fort.

My favorite thing is to find unusual synergies between legendary creatures

This format seems pretty darn neat, right?

Try to take advantage of having two commanders! Find weird synergies and play it! Also, the advantage of this format is playing 4 colors. Playtest! It's janky!

Ask your play group:If you want to bend the rules or have house rules, ask your friends. Hey, I mean, don't tell, but I'm sure that they would let you play double Brothers Yamazaki .

Now, since it's casual, it's all fun and games, right? Well, some people just want to be a spoil sport, and that ruins everyone else's idea of a good time.

Obviously if it is banned I'm regular EDH, you cannot play it here. I mean, come on, Animar, Soul of Elements + Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is just straight up broken.

Mana:

The coloring of your commanders must align slightly, unless they are 1c.

1c/1c - Any

2c/1c - Any

2c/2c - 1 alignment

3c/1c - Any

3c/2c - 1 alignment

3c/3c - 2 alignment

4c/1c - 1 alignment

4c/2c - 2 alignment

4c/3c - 3 alignment

5c - everything will align with a 5c creature

If your playgroup doesn't want to deal with color restrictions, that's fine, they are included here as a recommended guide for 4-color enabler and so everyone doesn't go and play 5 color jank. Go nuts and build funky magic.

You broke the game:

This will be a list of sets that you cannot run together as your commanders for the simple reason that they break the game to make it unfun (new word). I don't want to have this list, but you could have the other card in your deck (if it fits), and draw into it/tutor it.

Aurelia, the Warleader + Brago, King Eternal has infinite attack steps

Oloro, Ageless Ascetic + Karlov of the Ghost Council

Gisela, the Broken Blade + Bruna, the Fading Light

If you find an addition to this list, please tell me and I will add it.

Some creatures are ridiculous as commanders. You can have them in your deck, but not as your commander.

Braids, Conjurer Adept

Emrakul, the Promised End

Brago, King Eternal

Purphoros, God of the Forge

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker

This casual variant is only as good as the players (you) make it. If you have any questions, concerns, tips, feedback, ideas, whatever to help this become better, and smoother, comment or message me.

If you find something that warps the format, please report it. Don't make the game unfun (there it is again), as then it will get a bad reputation and people won't want to play.

If you make a Two Generals list, please include a link to this so other people can enjoy the format variant.

Thank you everyone!

If you make a Two Generals deck, please tag or share with me so I can add it to my folder.
