Tuvasa Enchantress: Druids, Witches and Goddesses

Commander / EDH Enchantment GWU (Bant) Primer Vorthos

The Inspiration

This deck has draw a lot of inspiration from the book by Starhawk

Here are a few choice quotes to wet your lips before reading on:

“The Crone, the Reaper... She is the Dark Moon, what you don't see coming at you, what you don't get away with, the wind that whips the spark across the fire line. Chance, you could say, or, what's scarier still: the intersection of chance with choices and actions made before"

           and

“In a culture where profit has become the true God, self-sacrifice can seem incomprehensible rather than noble.”

           and

“The brush that is tinder dry from decades of drought, the warming of the earth's climate that sends the storms away north, the hole in the ozone layer. Not punishment, not even justice, but consequence.”

The Backstory

I built this deck in honor of my brother FungusaursForever. He taught me how to play enchantress, back when it was Mono-green and the only enchantress around was the original green witch Verduran Enchantress. He used to run 4 of her and a bunch of classic old school cards like: Thicket Basilisk and Lure and Instill Energy and the O.G. Regeneration

White became an easy addition over time with the white druid Mesa Enchantress and so much good enchantment support like Spirit Link and Ghostly Prison and Sigil of the Empty Throne It was at that point that I started running this deck with some angel tribal to support the women on the ground with some Heavenly fliers Archangel of Thune and Gisela, the Broken Blade and the angel of Selesnya Sigarda, Heron's Grace

One day I was looking at the deck and realized that every card in it except a few had powerfully woman in the art. This was a deck female deck, which is rare in MTG... So I decided to make the deck #overpowered and #feminasty... And what better goddess to lead the deck than Karametra, God of Harvests. This truly became a great deck to play and one that always won the favor of the play group. It can overrun you, but usually you feel good when this deck destroys you, or in awe of the power of board. It quickly becomes overwhelming.

With the release of c18 and emergence of the new Blue Shaman tuvasa the sunlint this deck has truly become a powerhouse. I have stayed away from too much blue control and crazy power cards like Cyclonic Rift and Nexus of Fate because it goes against the main goal of this decks... win games while winning friends. As any good woman in leadership does. I did add some old school favorites, because this deck has a lot of nostalgia for me and I am going to send it to my brother so we can play against each other again... so Control Magic and Clone and Counterspell had to go in.

I hope you all enjoy the trip... and all hail the queens and goddesses of magic.

The Combos

This deck is not really a combo deck it is a synergy deck. There are a few nice combos like - Selfless Spirit + Mageta the Lion - Protean Hulk + Auramancer + Eternal Witness But really that is not how this deck plays. Your goal is to play as many cards as you can because the more you play, then the more you will draw, then the more you will play... Every card feeds of every other cards. All of the sudden you look down and you have 20-30 cards on the board. The key is to not miss your triggers, because every card you play will trigger about 6 other cards. Imagine when you play an enchantment creature like Nylea's Colossus with Sigil of the Empty Throne and Cathars' Crusade and Karametra, God of Harvests and Verduran Enchantress and Zendikar Resurgent. SOOO MANY TRIGGERS.

Play smart, play fast, and play fair. Your gonna do great.

The Victory

Voltron

There are lots of tasty auras in this deck Ancestral Mask or Octopus Umbra or Rancor suit them up on Tuvasa the Sunlit or drop Bruna, Light of Alabaster for a big turn. The key is to pick your spot for your big attacks. Rogue's Passage and Whitewater Naiads will finish the job.

No card is more important to this strategy than Nylea's Colossus

Go Wide

Oh boy are there lots of good ways to make more creatures than you will ever need. The key to making it all work is Cathars' Crusade but Mirari's Wake will help out too. Use Sigil of the Empty Throne or Ajani's Chosen or even Luminarch Ascension to get so many creatures swinging in for attacks each turn.

Death by enchantments

If the game still isn't over than not to worry Starfield of Nyx and Opalescence will find a way onto the board. At this point every card is synergizing with every card and your voltron strategy or your go wide strategy just got lots of help from every enchantment.

Death from Above

Just play Archetype of Imagination and now all your hordes of creatures, whether enchantments, tokens, big nasties, voltroned commanders or whoever else is around can fly and nobody else can. It is likely that you will have upwards of 40 power on the field quite a lot of the time and it makes a lot of sense that at this point your opponents will wish they made different decisions with their life.

Death by Omniscience

When all else fails drop Omniscience... Every card for free!!! The only thing that ever stops this deck is running out of mana... Literally the only thing. Card draw is no problem with all your enchantresses. Once Omniscience is played the game is over.
