Sideboard

Maybeboard

Update 2: Decided to simplify some things. After playing around with multiple Assault Formation and some others, I've streamlined to have more focus on what this deck does best: Get out lands, get out big creatures, and wiping out opponents in one attack. Feed the Clan back in and maxed out for those occasions when the plan takes longer to come to fruition, and I need to buy time/life. Adding in Arboreal Grazer and Veil of Summer (sideboard) from the newer set as well. After several games, this is my favorite iteration of my deck to this point. I ordered a couple Hydra's Growth today, and will toy around with putting them in as well. My thinking always comes back to: quick useful creatures, getting out extra lands, getting the big boys out, power them up, then Overwhelming Stampede. It isn't elegant, but its still fun.

Considering paying up for Heroic Intervention, since this deck's most obvious weakness is control cards like Unsummon, counters, etc. I may just add Blossoming Defense from the sideboard, although Sheltering Word is a nice upgrade from it, especially with Trees.

Update: Taking some advice from friends and commenters, a few changes. I decided Evolution Charm could be done without, at least for now, in favor of some cooler spells that are more on message such as Blossoming Defense and 2x Vines of Vastwood (I'm in the undecided majority as to which of those two is better). Other changes include Primal Bellow in for Luminescent Rain, and Assault Formation in for Feed the Clan, Might of the Masses, and Colossal Majesty. I'll play around with it for a while, but I like this setup. Only other change in the near future is adding another Nissa, Worldwaker, who's on her way in the mail. A little concerned about low creature to non-creature spells, so considering tossing Dungrove Elder back into the mix.

This is my main Modern deck, proof that I haven't played Magic regularly since 2008. I am not a competitive player by any means, but I do love my Trees, and in certain games, this deck does kick some ass. I go back and forth on the remaining cards after the essentials- Treefolk Harbinger, Bosk Banneret, Dauntless Dourbark, Timber Protector, Overwhelming Stampede.

I can usually get the big guys out and rocking within the first few turns, and turn 5 Overwhelming Stampede can usually lock down the game. Again, this works against certain opponents, certainly not a fullproof strategy, but it makes for great fun. I'd like to begin getting a bit more competitive, so feedback is appreciated.
