Sideboard

It kills your opponent. (slowly)

This is my first attempt of a competitive modern deck.

Ideal Turn Progression:

  1. Turn: Urza's Tower + Expedition Map

  2. Turn: Urza's Mine + search for Urza's Power Plant with Expedition Map if needed.

  3. Turn: Urza's Power Plant Now we have seven colorless mana available so we could already play Karn Liberated . But I like to play Bottled Cloister + Ensnaring Bridge . Both together cost seven mana and if they stay on the board our opponent is unable to attack us. Also the Bottled Cloister prevents most of the discarding spells of black/blue player since most of them are sorceries. And don't forget with the Botteld Cloister we draw a additional card in our upkeep.

At first I wanted it to be completely colorless but after some playtests I realized that the Urza lands need to be in play in the 4th turn at latest. Expedition Map helps of course but it is still not reliable enough for competitive, so I splashed green. In the early game Sylvan Scrying helps us finding the Urza lands and even in the late game we can use it to search for a Urza land and thin out the deck. Also getting 2 or 3 colorless mana for one colorless and a green is also not to bad. With Ancient Stirrings we can find the cards we want faster in the late game. But we could also gamble and use it to search for a Urza land early.

The New Karn, the Great Creator is a nice adding to the list. As a 'pseudo' tutor it help getting an Ensnaring Bridge or the Bottled Cloister . Also it can get a Relic of Progenitus to exile an artefact in our own graveyard just to bring it back to our hand. Unfortunately Ensnaring Bridge + Karn, the Great Creator need Tron enabled and Bottled Cloister + Karn, the Great Creator need Tron + one extra mana. So this is a slower approach but it is more consistent.

WinCon: This deck is slow. I mean real slow. Don't get me wrong, it ramps extremely fast (Yeay Tron) but it needs time to kill your opponents. In the beginning (when this deck was pure colorless) I had Blinkmoth Nexus + Inkmoth Nexus in the deck to win with infect. Still slow but nevertheless faster than this setup. The advantage of the Nexus lands is that they can turn into bodies and block if needed but again I almost never used this ability and I think it is more important to have a steady early game. So how can we win with this deck? If your opponent can't to something against your board they will surrender. If they don't then we can hit them 7 times with Ugin, the Spirit Dragon 's Lightning Bolt abillity, or we restart the game with Karn Liberated after we exiled some sweet permanents. And of course Karn, the Great Creator + Mycosynth Lattice is always fun.
